I'm sure ive mentioned this, but I live on a busy street and often times ill be working on the duster outside and random people will pull into the drive to shoot the breeze
(usually to let me know their mom had on just like it when they were in highschool, only with the 6 pack hemi)

well, today, I finally got to do it to someone else myself
I was coming down my street and spotted a gorgeous 68 fish sitting at a gas station
so I swung around and went to say hi

turns out, the guy driving it was just tuning the carb for the owner and not the owner himself

still a pretty good talk though
 
It really troubles me the amount of apparent trailer / hanger queens there seems to be. Some thing like the local car show, "they" are out in droves, but on the average nice spring summer day, you RARELY see a classic driving around. I REALLY need to get "on" mine, and hope to here in about a week. When mine was together, I drove it every day when the weather was decent. That includes the winter if it was mild, roads were clean and dry

the girl who runs the front desk at the gym drove her 78? Camaro today
she was telling me she had a slight leak so she just ordered a ton of parts from summit, water pump, radiator, clutchfan, and what not
she said she does all the work on it herself...but her brother helps her with it

I agree completely. The whole point of having an older car is the experience driving it. I am not and never will be a trailer queen person. How could you own something from the 50's60''s,etc and never feel the pull to drive it? I have always used every old car I've had as a daily driver. I've never been a big car show person,I like seeing them going down the road like
God intended them to do.
I can understand not driving them in the snow or rain for folks who live in bad climates,but I don't get the ones who keep them as stationary works of art or investments. Enjoy your cars!
 
Surprised no one got you on the title yet "I finally got to do it to someone else." That's funny. I've been hanging around here too long.
 
you will always get "fans" coming up to you in a classic car. Just the way it is. I don't like when they cruise by your garage looking in to see what ya got. Used to happen all the time back when I lived in town. I never got burglarized though, but I know people who have. There was a time when "most " people didn't want Mopars. It was a small crowd who ran them and people stuck together. Now Mopars are High $$$. Wasn't always so, but you still needed connections in the MOPAR game.
 
I will never trailer mine.

But I'm afraid to drive them where there is cell phone reception.

Just this afternoon, someone asked me it if was a 72 challenger
I didn't bother to tell them to look at the license plate :banghead:
 
Drive my Duster as much as I can. And now since I've been moved to a suburban office from downtown, I'll be driving it to work "occasionally" like Hagerty says is ok. I'll define occasionally as once a week, 10 days or so weather permitting.
 
I love driving my car, year round when the streets are good. My nephew, a car nut too gets concerned about winter salt but I do my best to keep it clean on the bottom as well as the top. It's just too much fun to drive and enjoy.
Yesterday I was getting ready to leave a parking lot and a man stopped in front of my car. I rolled down my window and motioned I'd be right out of the spot and he told me he just stopped to listen to it run. Pretty cool indeed.
 
had the dart out on sunday ,couple of errands, guy comes up and says like the sound of it ,I said thanks ,he asked couple questions ,I answered happily and said its not a trailer queen but a good driver , he said oh yea I can tell ,I can see you had bodywork from here and walks away , lol always a laugh, that's why I like driving it, you never know what people will say
 
until, and even then, after then, you rebuild/replace every part on that car, it can die side the road. even if NEW car from the factory! lets face it.

whether to drive, and ENJOY driving it, is a mindset!????? how many people that first get into this hobby, their first question is " what is it worth?" worth a few pennies and NOPE, not gonna drive it. want it perfect! ya can't drive it then, because it will NO longer be perfect!! LOL many start out with the idea to get it on the road, only to spend years restoring!?????????????

should be a rule, get it drivable then YOU have permission to make it perfect!?????? LOL
I live way out in the sticks, no traffic stops in the talk cars. be nice to have some!
