Pick my cam?

Unfortunately the stock heads and manifolds will be a restriction so if it were me i would pick something that stock rockers and single valve springs would work with , it keeps costs down and simplifies things until later on if you decide to upgrade. I like the .528 mopar cam that was suggested above but you would need adjustable rockers and and pushrods but he pointed that out in the above response, I will probably get torched for suggesting these cams but i like both the .474 and .484 purple shafts and it requires simple rocker gear and springs. There are some other comp , lunati grinds but with the 4 speed the two purple shafts would make good power , sound good if you like a lumpy idle and should be problem free. 2.5 inch exhaust would be recommended as well as a 750 on top of the LD340

No torchin goin on here.

The 474 and 484 cams are both fine. My thinkin was that even if he goes hydraulic, it is good money spent on adjustable valve gear to get lifter preload dead right. There's some extra power to be had there. So, why not really take advantage of that and go solid? Just kinda spitballin.

Plus that 484.....while a good cam is really bout too big. The 474 would be good. But the 528 would be the best of both worlds. Technically about the same size as the 474, but with more lift and the advantage of being solid. I like the 112 LSA too for good manners and a strong vacuum signal, plus that wide torque curve that will help pull that OD in high gear.

I THINK the 484 would lead to some down shifting on grades on the highway and cost some mileage there. Course, there's really no good test except to try it and see.
