I don't follow you about the engine moving (forward?) if you hit curb stops. I don't normally "hit" curb stops. One of my cars has the clutch unit so close to the radiator that I can barely slide a belt past it and though I don't have a chain that you are referring to, I've never had the clutch hit the radiator. Maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying.
