Really thought it would be lighter, minus the 115lbs or so of fuel.

What did you guys that have actually weighed your cars come up with?

yeah, that could be right.. mine (a Scamp) has a few things to make it lighter and it's 3024 w/o driver

My new truck weighs.....8800 LBS!!! Had it weighed! A pick up truck!

Yep about the same as my 71 demon with same options, frame ties, steel heads, with full vinal top, p/s, manual drum brakes. I was right at 3,300 with 10 gal, spare, jack, and cragar SS rims.

I asked about the accuracy of the truck stop scales. Just wondering since it came out to an even number and these scales are for weighing tens of thousands of pounds. I wondered what the margin of error might be, or even if the weights might be padded a hundred pounds or so, like scrap yards pad theirs. I really was hoping to see 3100 or slightly below.

I don't remember now what my 67 weight, "suprisingly heavy."

But I DO remember........I drove in one end of our local waste transfer, weighed at the entrance, and again going out the exit end, and there was I forget........60-80 lbs difference between the scales.

I actually talked with the state weigh "guy" and by the time he got done dazzlin' me with techno BS, I had "no idea." Generally, scale tolerance depends on the weight they have to handle.

i always thought liquids were about 10 lb / gal. 15 gal would be 150 lb.
so that would get you to 3170,power steering and 727 add quite a bit
26" alum rad will hold more liquid,225 and 275 tires are a lot heavier
than the stock D70's

Duster tank is listed as 16 gal. Gasoline is 6.4lbs/gal...so actually 100.8 lbs.
The scales were 15mi from me topping off. I probably had around 95lbs of fuel at the weigh in. That would put me around 3225lbs dry.

Radiator holds one extra gallon over stock. Antifreeze is about 9.25 lbs/gal. Offset by the weight savings of the radiator. The stock is probably heavier tha the aluminum even with the fans, but can't say for sure.

I was surprised myself when i weighed my scamp last weekend. We got free dump day on saturdays. It's done by scale. Weighed in at 1590 (kgs), 3500 pounds with me in the car. Granted I was hauling around an extra hundred pounds in spare tire and a rim in the back (don't get me started on that, it's my second bent rim from summit). So minus that, my weight. Its around 3200 pounds wet. Not bad I figure. Especially with the bigger and heavier rims and tires I just put on. But I do see fiberglass hood and maybe bumpers/front quarters in my future. I'd like 3000 pounds wet without me.

AL heads weigh about a third of cast, and the cast LA intake is close to 55lbs, AL is about 15. bucket seats weigh a ton. Centerlines are light too. shedding 500# is extreme.

Thanks EL5!!

Details? That'near where I want to be.

All steel except fiberglass hood, full interior,6-point rollbar, full exhaust..installed flaming river manual steering box(that took 35lbs off the frontend)..install Wilwood brakes(front) haven't weighted it yet since putting them on,suppose to be about 25lbs lighter then the stock drums..

Buckets (factory), console and frame connectors add up. Bench seat is lighter. What transmission?

If you meam me, 727.
Guess 3225 is not too bad...could probably shave 10lbs switching master cylinders.

Last time I weighed the 67 GTS it was 3200+ don't remember the exact number and I misplaced it 383 is 100 lbs more than a 340.

I did a google search. Shipping weight on a 67 barracuda V8 notchback with 273 is 2,855. Thats everything but with an empty gas tank.

Im sure mine will weigh about that. I am using a lot of aluminum to replace steel and cast iron parts, but i am also adding disc brakes, subframe connectors etc.

You should have taken one more weight. Roll the car so just the front or rear axle was on the scale. This way you could figure out the front and rear weight to see what kind of weight balance you have. More than likely 55 % front 45% rear.

I asked about the accuracy of the truck stop scales.

Since it's a Flyin' Hook, and the price was 10.50, I'm guessing it was a CAT scale. CAT scales are very accurate and round to even pounds. They are calibrated very often and they also will go to court with a driver if he uses one of their scales and gets an over weight ticket.

With that said, that weight is probably very accurate to within a pound or two.
