I have a 340 block date code 9/26/70. Warranty block with no vin stamped on it. I would like to trade for a late 71 340 block. my car was built 1/72

What would the date have to be on the block? I'm not a numbers guy but I thought I read somewhere that it could have a block up to but not in stone 6 months before the build date.

I have one with a 9/29/71 cast date.. 2780930-340-2 vin 227081

That is about as close as your going to get to the "right" block for your build. Blocks were cast in batches, I had a 9 /71 block with a 73 vin number stamped in the pan rail!
