I noticed that to, Rani. And i am Very depressed. Some great build threads are picture less now.

I notice in that thread I linked in the OP ....a lot of pics will show in separate tab if you click on them, they just don't show what you're clicking on, till you do.

I commonly use a site specific google image search to find what I'm looking for on FABO. I don't think that technique will work so well once the pages get re-indexed by Google.

I think this is a big hit to the value of the content you've accumulated over all these years. Hopefully you can find a way.

its mainly attached pics, right? i always use photobucket and post the img code.
I cant tell you how many other sites have broken links due to photobucket links going bad. Its the internet, things happen, sites go under. Slantsix lost LOTS of photos when their internal hosting went under. Bummer, hope we can get a few back.

It's only the attached pics.

I host pretty much all of my pictures for my posts on photobucket. I've never had a link "go bad". The links stop working if the user deletes or moves the picture on photobucket though, and they can be temporarily unavailable if that user exceeds their bandwidth. I had to pay for more bandwidth after a couple of my threads turned into "how to's". But I have pictures posted in threads from 8 years ago hosted on photobucket that still work great.

I started using photobucket in 200 for model railroad pictures. I have had pictures disappear, links break and a host of other problems. Not to mention photobucket runs slow as molasses in a Canadian winter.

.

Yeah so I checked my oldest hosted pictures on photobucket. 2006. They all still work, even on a couple forums I haven't visited in years. Never had any issues like you describe.

I sure as heck have. I have tried several sites and FABO has actually been the best for me so far.

Photobucket sucks dead rotten rabid camel balls.
Wow never even seen a Camels pair so they must be worse than mountain oysters. lol

I'm having trouble seeing some pics on my iPhone, only half the picture or less is showing up....tried clicking the picture it turning the phone but only part of the pic shows up, less than half or a quarter of the pic is viewable....not all pictures do this.

They are still there! You just have to click it to see it.

But it's easier to follow the threads when you can see the pictures and the text together....

Many How-to threads will loose some of their effectiveness....

How are we gonna enjoy the Mopar Babes thread(s) if we can't see all of the pictures...

You don't buy nudie mags to read the articles... Know what I mean....

I agree with always clicking to see a picture....atleast it's not all the pictures but still a pita

  • if they are still there and the link pic is only missing, my bad. The prior broken link I clicked on was empty, until I clicked on the actual "xxxxxxx.jpg" script in the box. Not the killer I thought it was.
my photobucket experience...

FYI, looks like the poster can go back in and 'fix' their pics. Pull up old pic by clicking on "***.jpg" script to bring up photo, and then right click: copy image address, then paste that URL into a reply using the photo link icon or use the manual img tag. I was able to reply to a post that had a blank pic with the original pic and it showed just fine. So if everyone did that for their own links, that would be a load off Joey (if that is an approved workaround) unless there is an automated procedure the website is going to do..
