Ok here is my thing. I use an RPM activated air shifter in my footbrake car.

A lot of your dragsters and other door cars that use a delay box to shift on time. This is a feature built in the delay box.

My question is being a footbrake racer I do not use a delay box. So is there a timer you can buy or make to be able to shift on time instead of by RPM?

What are the pros and cons of shifting by RPM versus on time?

I have done it both ways. My Hot Rod car was very consistent on the throttle stop but also had a Biondo 450 delay box with this feature built into it. Oh how I miss that car. Dang Divorce!

Does anyone offer a shift activator for timed activation? Just throwing it out there. All comments welcome.

get rid of the air and go to an electric shiftnoid setup. rpm based of course. timed is illegal in bracket racing at most tracks.

most of what i typed didnt show up.

i had issues with the co2 lines all the time with an air shifter. of course now i have issues with the electric rpm based setup to.
rpm is better than timed.

My PPP shifter has air capability and I use an ACD shift timer with it..... except I started running the Heritage Series races out here in the west which made it necessary to remove both items from the car.... but in D7 pro class it's legal. I also like it running a heads up challenge race that I get involved with from time to time at a 1/8 mile track.

I had issues too using CO2. I went to a compressor and this fixed the issues with leaky lines and such.

I had no idea it was illegal to make your shifts on time. Interesting because I know several that do it and prefer it over rpm shift points. I guess its just preference but if its illegal I guess what I use now will have to suffice.
