I don't think so, not for many years anyway. It would take a while to get everyone "converted over" to a self driving car. What they need to do is test it in the form of public transportation for a few years. A self driving bus, or taxi service. See what it does in crowded city traffic before pushing onto the masses. The closest thing I have ever experienced was the self driving train at Atlanta airport, its pretty neat, but its on rails. I remember being freaked out for a second when you think that there is no one behind the wheel.
