Strikers in too far. Not latching all the way.

Is the door too far in on the front edge, causing a bind? Maybe loosen it at the hinge and slide it out just a touch?

Is it latching twice? You know... one click two clicks. Might be the latch. Spray some penetrate oil in the latch. Push the button on the handle so it wont latch and cycle the latch a bunch of times.
add more penetrate and repeat. If the striker was messed up the the latch may have been rendered inoperable.

Wear in the door hinges is root cause of striker damage. If you haven't corrected that and door alignment, you might get the latch fully set and jammed. You could find yourself inside kicking the door trying to get it open again.

I always start my adjustments by removing the striker all together.. make sure the door fits, and closes all the way.. then make the striker fit the door.

You guys are awesome, and yes the hinges are likely the root cause, I don't know if I am describing this correct, but here we go, the can on the inside of the striker (rubber was gone, so I replaced it , that's all I changed and now the door doesn't latch correct, I have tried all adjustments, crap!!! Wife is correct again.

Not likely the root cause but without doubt. Always worst at drivers door too. It is used most after all.
Do this, while this door is open a few inches, grab the outer lower corner and lift. If you open the door fully you wont see 100% of the wear and movement since this position is not where the doors weight rides / wears on the hinges.

it's two hinges, a latch and a catch - your wife is wrong, you can do this... yes, it can be a royal PITA but it is very doable.. back-up and investigate. Keep an eye on clearances and tolerances as you SLOWLY close the door - - you may have to do this a few times but the answer is there...

Thanks Mike for the kind words
Well I missed the 1st cruise of the season, would like to take the Cuda out for a drive this long weekend, but I do like having the door close, (minor detail), frustrated but not down and out.
Latch and hardware looks the same on both side and operates the same except for the closing.
