Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

Mike, thanks so much for your reply and details; that helps me a lot.

I'm very curious about the interchangeability of other parts onto my car, and you mentioned parts from a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Are you referring to a ZJ (first generation)? And they would bolt up to a small bolt pattern axle on my car? Or, I assume this is the way to turn the rear small bolt pattern into a big bolt pattern to match the upgraded front. This is very intriguing to me because where I live, in Poland, Jeeps are very plentiful and parts are very available, and this would solve the rear brake problem as well. Excellent! Now, do you perhaps have any suggestions as to any possible swaps using front axle parts from a Jeep onto my Barracuda? Does anything fit? My father in law even suggested going that route because he has a 2nd generation Grand Cherokee and reports the brakes are outstanding. I had a ZJ for many years and felt the brakes were excellent on that Jeep as well, and I'm aware the next generation offers even better brakes. So if there's any way I can use Jeep parts on my Barracuda, I'm definitely going to go that route, because we don't have junk yards over here to scavenge vintage parts out of and shipping from the US is very, very expensive on these heavier parts, so it makes much sense to use what we have available over here and if Jeep parts can be made to fit, I'm in!!

Thanks again.

Hetman,

I haven't used them myself, but have seen the SSBC disc brake conversion for use on (I believe) the 10" drum brake spindle. They look like a quality product. IIRC, they can be had in either SBP or BBP configuration. If I had the money, I would consider them myself.

On the other hand, I've managed to scavange more than one set of the '73+ B/F/M/J/R spindles. Depending on which caliper adapter you have, they use either the 10-7/8" (good) or 11-3/4" rotor (better). The down side is they are heavy. A plus is this spindle is 3lbs lighter per side than the '73-76 A-bdy spindle.

There is one more option which, IMO, will maximize the performance of stock parts. That is to use either of the above spindles, with the Cordoba 11-3/4" rotors, and the AR Engineering caliper adapter which will mount Wilwood 4 piston calipers to the stock rotor. In other words, the best of both worlds.

The only down side I see is that those Wilwood calipers, IIRC, are not for four season use. I believe they do not have piston boot seals. In other words, maybe not best for daily driver use. But hey, I live in FL... LOL

This is the system I'm planning for multiple projects, paired up with the rear disc brakes from Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Hope this gives you more options to consider. Does your head hurt yet? Ha ha
