Got that beat - joined the AF in April 66 and as an E1 made a whopping $96 a month and all I could eat at the chow hall plus a place to sleep every night. If I didn't already have a car (58 Volvo PV544) I could have never afforded one at that rate of pay. Oh yes, Uncle Sam took both Federal and state taxes out of it as well.
