What is a good power steering box for a 73-76 Dart Sport or Duster. Where did you get it. Last year I had to buy one for the Dart Sport and I have adjusted it twice and it is loose. It was from Oreillys and they don't have them any more. I have looked at A1 Cardone through Summit and the reviews aren't that great. The ones from Autozone is that great also. Thanks

For a nice and tight steering you have about 3 choices that I know of.

Here's the options:

Bergman Auto Craft - Borgeson Steering Box Conversion Kit
Firm Feel - Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 Rebuilt Power Steering boxes
Steer & Gear - Stock. Modern, Sport Rebuilt Power Steering boxes

I've talked to people first hand that love the Bergman kit, but it's definitely pricey. The Firm Feel box gets good reviews too. Steer & Gear probably is the best priced unit and they also have a good reputation.

I've been doing this same research myself. I was going to put up with my power steering box until I can afford the Bergman kit.

I had a Steer & Gear pwr steering box with the firm feel modification I put into my 66 Charger. Not the same body but the same pwr steering box. It was great and I ran it for 19 years until someone offered me more money for the car than I could turn down.

will check it out, thanks

I also have to replace the pwr steering box in my 74 Dart Sport, leaking bad. I'll put in a Steer & Gear, I had one and I liked it, besides I tried to support Steer & Gear way back when I lived up in Ohio, they sponsored the Chrysler Classic. Now I live in Texas, Shipping will be high.

Additionally I installed a Borgeson box in a 64 Dart for a guy in the Austin Mopar Club. He loved it, and yes it was pricey, but it has a smaller foot print then the old Mopar power box and he had a 360 in the 64 Dart.

My dad has a Firm Feel (the company) Stage 1 box in his 66 Coronet 500. Works great, no leaks, feels better than stock and no play. I have a Stage 3 to go in my GTS.

I too have read good things about Steer and Gear, but Firm Feel is across the river from me so it was a no brainier, geographically speaking.

Well this one isn't leaking but it does have a lot of play in it. I have adjusted it and it still has too much. So I was thinking about a new one. I have usually had good luck with A1 cardone but not this one.

I have a firm feel stage 3 in my cuda and love it. And the box was rebuilt and has warranty

I think I m leaning towards the Firm Feel stage 3. going to call them tomorrow. thanks guys.

They are great to work with. You won't regret it. My dad did quiz them on the difference between their rebuild over a reman from Napa and they do quite a bit more, you get a better box that a factory new one.

Red head steering gears do the same
