Amen to that..and a BIG thank you to all that have served God bless America:usflag::usflag::usflag:

My family makes a point of going to the memorial day services every year to pay honor to our Veterans and those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Monday isn't a holiday as we look at it, it's a solemn day of remembrance and celebration of the freedom they defended.

The entrance to the National Cemetery was lined with hundreds of bikes when I went on Memorial Day a couple of years ago. Really moving to see along with flags on every grave.

Then the Thunderbirds (I think?) did a fly over....It was awesome!

Thank God for every person who made the ultimate sacrifice, and may the Lord be with those they left behind on this Memorial Day weekend.

I believe that agent orange gave my cousin the ' ultimate sacrifice' years later. And thank you to all who have served !

Yes indeed, thank you to all that have and still serve our great nation. My father was in Vietnam War, always thank him on this day, and also when ever myself, my wife and son see a person in uniform we always tell them thank you for your service.:usflag:

May we remember all who were lost and all who served.

Here is Daddy aboard DE742, the USS Hilbert doing some engine repair. He was aboard from its commission to its decommission. You can see the connecting rod and piston behind him. He is the bearded chap givin the camera the eat **** look. lol This was sometime in 1944. This was immediately after what became known as "Typhoon Cobra" in which his ship was involved. That typhoon sank several Navy ships in December 1944 but his came through, not unscathed, obviously. They did have one man that was washed overboard. Anyway, here is the picture.

when I was young kid and a kid in high school (1962-1966), I remember how I wondered if people in that small Ga county that knew my dad and the family, understand what 4yrs of WW11 and I yr in Korea did to him mentally? he never could talk of the wars, the service. I am certain to this day, the fact he had a child to take care of, was the only reason he lived.
may we all pay due attention to this holiday and what it truly means.

Thank you for this thread, it reminds me to spread awareness of Memorial Day to customers at work this weekend.

Thank you to all who have served our nation. You are awesome

As do we. I always make it a point to walk up to them, shake their hand and thank them.

Once in a great while we catch someone in uniform at the local 'Steak and Shake' and will pay their tab. (Anonymously of course) it tends to leave a bewildered look on their face.

My wife and I, and other club members from Inland Mopars Car Club, were at the Riverside National Cemetery in SoCal yesterday morning to join in with the many others from the community to place flags on all of the more than 230,000 grave sites. Each time it is absolutely amazing to see the cemetery change dramatically in just over one hour!
Here are some pics from 2015 Veterans Day...

I lost a few close friends while I served almost 25 years I always think of them on this day.

Whenever I was thanked by a stranger for my service (when I was in uniform) I felt a little funny. I don't know why I did, maybe because it made me feel that I was serving just for them? But the bottom line was that I served the great nation that I love deeply. My 28 years of service went bye too fast. I pray for all of our service people and thank God that we have them protecting us every day! And I ask God to take great care of those whom paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who received scars of every kind. Thanks to all who've served! Salute!
