I'm wondering if anyone knows a source for the round headed bolts that attach the lower ball joints to the spindles on A-bodies with the Kelsey Hayes disc setup. Australian made Valiants use something that looks the same but we don't have a source that's a reasonable price locally.

I'm not aware of any sources for them. Wonder if hardware store Grade 8 bolts would work. I'm pretty sure these are what you are talking about. I have this set plus another for my Kelsey Hayes set-up.

Looking at your pic it looks like you are using for the caliper to spindle Grade 8 hardware. I believe these are the correct bolts. These are all I have but someone on the forum was reproducing them

The op, guy in Australia, is using one picture of mine, of a disc brake set up that eventually will be put up for sale.
Have a couple in front of that set ready to go, and are currently being advertised, for sale.

The op is asking about the BALL JOINT to spindle mounting bolts.
What's the big deal anyway, with using a bolt that was manufactured probably 45 years ago?
Just use a grade 8 bolt, 9/16 x 18 fine thread, and your car is never going to know any different.

Why get so anal over a manufactures style of bolt, in the first place?
I could never figure that out.
But to each his own, i guess, and I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.
As long as it works for functionality, whats the big deal, who cares?

I agree except the OEM ball joint to spindle bolts have the curved radius on the head. From memory the head of the bolt comes into contact with another suspension component on full lock. As for the caliper to spindle I'm happy to use any grade 8 bolt.

Never heard that one before.
Makes no difference what style "head" of a bolt is used to fasten a ball joint to a spindle.

I'm refering to the Australian style spindle which is slightly different to the US one. I'm sure Chrysler had a reason for the curved surface otherwise they would have just used a plain headed bolt. I just found it curious the US early disc brake appears to use the same bolt as our locally built cars and might provide a replacement.

BTW I asked if there was a source of these bolts either as NOS or reproduction. I wasn't looking to debate the merits of OEM vs hardware store bolts.

Well suit yourself.
Do what you want to do.
Don't give a darn, one way or other, in the style, that a bolt manufacturer made 40+ years ago.

Hey, how did you do with the oem style bolts? any luck. I notice they do make contact when you lock the wheel out, I will probably end up with a generic grade 8, but would prefer the dome head.
