I subscribe to Mopar Action which is published by Harris Publications. So I got this piece of mail yesterday from Harris Publications. I figured it was a renewal notice. Nope, if I am a creditor looking for money from Harris, I gotta fill out the enclosed form and return it. No creditor unless I don't get my full subscription for Mopar Action. Anyone else get this mail?

I don't subscribe to it but have seen many similar notices cross my desk in my Old Life as a paralegal.
It seems Harris has filed bankruptcy and the trustee has sent out notices to begin processing creditor claims.
Unless you paid for twenty years in advance or something Don, it's probably not worth your time to pursue it. I suspect the places who Harris owes the most to will be given "priority" if and when the court determines there are funds available. It could take weeks or many years to settle the bankruptcy estate.

Well the whole thing about "bankruptcy" is that, generally, unless it itself is a scam, it means whoever is filing is broke. What this boils down to in non-legal terms is that there are VERY FEW entities---who have the best lawyers----that are going to see a dime out of any settlement. So if you or your company is more than say, 15th down from the top of the list, you might as well use that letter for

alternative "other" materials while in the toilet

starting your bbq

or free one sided notepaper

No nothing like that. Found it interesting as just a plain old subscriber to one of their mags I would get this.

Lol! It went into 5th option - round file!

Theres lots of write-ups about this situation at the MML and Moparts. Apparently Roland Osborne of Chrysler Power fame and E-Berg from Mopar Action are going to try to rescue MA, with CP taking over publishing MA. It was mentioned that Chrysler Power and MA would publish every other month, opposite each other. I think there's more news to come.

Cliff, EBerg and I tried really hard to pull this off... It looked really good for a while however the final conclusion is that Mopar Action is a great package as is and appeals to a certain audience, as does Chrysler Power... And while those audiences overlap quite significantly, Roland's (that's me) position is to continue to do BOTH magazines, publishing on opposite months like we already do... And, as Cliff says, a PURE Mopar Action and PURE Chrysler Power... Sticking point was how ya gonna pay for all this since Harris didn't leave any money in the kitty for continuation... My position was to rally all the advertisers to stay with MA, get the subscribers to stake us to an extra year sub for only $25 so we had some working capital for ink on paper and postage (LOTS guys did thanks!) and we'd SQUEEZE thru thanks to our printer as the ad money finally arrived with the Calvary and we’d stabilize and all live happily ever after... We got stuck somewhere around there and at this point we just pray for sunny weather please!

Hate to see a Mopar publication go out of biz.

That's the same info I got a week or so ago when I called Chrysler Power and Roland answered the phone. A previous FABO post said something about connecting through the Chrysler Power website, but I couldn't find the link so I called and asked about it.
The combo deal between Chrysler Power and Mopar Action is dead for now. Roland said he thinks EBerg may be trying to do something with a webmag version.
Who knows, we may yet see something happen.
