I have heard the argument before. Unless your kids are in public school 24 hours a day, where do they socialize? I would guess there is far more social interaction outside of school than inside.
This sentiment was championed by guilt-ridden working moms in the 80's and 90's to justify their pursuits of McMansions and German luxury cars until it became the modern gospel.
