Walmart Canada to stop accepting Visa cards

I liked it better when you could get a discount for cash at almost any place. It could mean lower prices for those that don't use Visa. Probably not by much. I have a feeling corporate will keep the savings, which would be substantial. Who cares what Wal-Mart does. It is what I do in response that counts. If I get to keep a penny, so be it...a penny saved is a penny earned. I charged my house on Discover Card. One way or the other I had to spend the money, so where else can you get a couple of per cent back with no negotiation or fees?

Here there are many gas stations that have a cash/credit price.

At the heart of this problem is the rewards and cash back cards. The higher interchange and other fees that come along with these cards gets passed onto the consumer through increasingly higher prices. There is no free lunch.

In reality the rewards card user is not getting cash back from his credit issuer, they are instead extracting it from themselves and everyone else through inflated pricing. You just can't win.
