SRT8CUDA Build

Great work Jim. I just noticed a member/douchebag Oldbear2 is "disagree" on a shitload of threads including this one. No idea why other than hes a d-bag lol.
Keep up the awesome work Jim

I do know on 68 they were blacked out with a flat black from the factory. I would assume they did that also in 69
You guys are correct - I did some more research and they indeed were blacked out. I wasn't able to determine if all colors were blacked out or not. But anyway - with a bit of masking, they are now black!!! And I thought I knew everything about '69 Barracuda's!!! (my first car was a '69 340 Formula S, 4 speed, FB)
It does seem odd that the factory would go to the trouble and take the time to mask this small area and paint it.

To all I extend an apologize. I never intentionally dislike anyones post. I was contacted by chasmosis1 and was told that I dislike a post. I have tried to find out how to remove a dislike without success. If someone could help me remove the dislikes I will do it in an instant. Again I am sorry and never intended to disagree with anything. I very much appreciate each and everyone of the post.

The SRT8CUDA has emerged from the garage:popcorn: Today - July 21, 2016. 4 years and 10 months after disassembly started in Sept 2011. On the road for the first time around town and all is good!!!
There are still a few things to finish:
1. The fuel injection still has to be tuned for the road.
2. Install stiffer rear springs (started on that today after I got it on the hoist)
3. Undercoat the front fenderwells.
My right foot had an involuntary twitch a couple of times that promptly lit up the tires!!!! I hate it when that happens!!!
Will be displayed for the first time on July 29th at a cruise night in my town.

4 years and 10 months? Slacker (says the guy who's car has been apart for 20+ years)
It looks great and I am sure a blast to have those involuntary twitches with.

Hey Jim, would you mind telling what cruise you're going to on the 29th? I'd love to see your car in person.

Kincardine. Usually well over 200 cars depending on the weather. Sounds like it may be wet on Friday - but that can change as the days go by.

Had the car out for its first run on the road. The A/F ratios look pretty close while cruising, but will need to have more tuning done. Rides great on the road. I still have to have the alignment done, but my rough alignment using a jig is pretty close I think since it tracks straight on the road. Only problem I've seen is that there is a loud whine from the PS pump when turning the wheel. Sounds like the pump is cavitating, so may have to put a different reservoir on it and/or bigger suction line.
Other things to finish are finding someone to make some custom AC hoses and lines to plumb the AC system and installing the wide white stripe on the car.

Jim your car looks great. Really like the stance it has. I had told you I was looking forward to meeting you in person and seeing your car at Moparfest but I will be out of town and unable to attend. Hopefully I will get a chance to see it before it goes away for a winter sleep.

Please post what you do with your power steering. That still seems to be an issue with a lot of us. Thanks Bob

Yea I know but have not been out west to see my son since he moved there three years ago and time to do it just does not work for anyother month. Our paths will cross. Maybe you will take your car to Florida. Bob

I'm heading to MoparFest this year and really hoping to see everything. Can't wait to see the car and speak to you.

Looks great.

I've got the first 500 miles on the car after a couple of trips to Moparfest on the weekend and some other local trips. So far - no major issues.
The Passon 5 speed is working fine.
The ride with the coil suspension is totally different than the stock suspension. Much smoother
I've done several full throttle pulls to break in the engine, but haven't wound it out yet. It goes like stink!!! and I thought my 340 was fast!!!
Have done some initial manual tuning of the fuel map on the road (with the laptop) and I've got it pretty close. I'll try turning on the "learn function" on the FAST system and see what it does.
There is still a bad whine from the power steering pump and the steering seems overboosted, so some work to do on that.
I've got a 3.91 gear set in it, but now that I've got it on the road, I probably should have used a 3.55. I'm currently turning ~2200 rpm at 60 mph.

Are you running the stock power steering pump and the mustang 2 rack? The stock 6.1 pump is much to high pressure for the rack....

RMS sold me a bracket so I can use an LS1 pump.

I'm running a LS1 pump (Type II) with the Mustang 2 rack. The pump is part of the March Performance accessory drive kit and they seem to use GM parts. (Although the pump is sourced from Tuff Stuff!!)
I've set the pressure at about 1000 psi using a supplied shim kit..

Jim I have seen lots of posts here on the heidts adjustable power steering valve PS-101 and was going to consider using it with the stock 5.7 Hemi pump. However I have never seen anyone post that it works with either the Hemi PS pump or the GM pump. The thought of having the ability to adjust/tune the pressure sounds great but does the device work without it causing over pressure noise or other issues??? I have yet to see any results of its use. It might be an option to fine tune your PS pump. Not there yet on my build to provide input if it works. Bob

What a complete dim-wit I am. Changed the oil and filter for the first time. Started it up - no oil pressure. Shut it down right away and found all my oil on the floor!!! No - I did put the plug in the pan!!! When I took out the old filter, I left it in the tray to drain and I didnt check to make sure the gasket came with it. The gasket did not come with it. Thus I had 2 gaskets and they blew out and pumped all the oil out:mad::mad::mad:
The really really dumb part is that I know about this problem!!!!
