I need a new gas cap for my 65 Valiant. I don't think there is a new aftermarket one available that actually fits the car. I've seen a lot of Valiant with the old aftermarket Stant S curve chrome caps. But I notice there are several of those old part numbers that look identical depending on measurements. They are also ridiculously expensive if you can find one. Most of the time $80-$100 sometimes you might find one for $40-$50. Is there a cap anyone makes that will fit no matter what it looks like? Mine is so loose I'm sure water is getting in. I tried one for a 67+ A-body hoping it would fit but it wouldn't.

Stant 11705 . I bought at Pepboys in Los Angeles . I handed my Id to teller and took eight caps outside and that one fit great a little tight , but I know it won't fall off .
Daughter lost the old one . I working on modifying a locking cap for her .
Hope that helps

The old Stant G-27 was the go-to replacement gas cap for decades. The all-chrome one goes for about $60 on Ebay, the same model with the black handle is half of that. Wait for one of those... I like the retro style as well.

OK, I found some stats on my working gas cap I modified to fit. Its a Stant chrome with a straight bar, and the 'plug' is 1.350" and the tangs are ground to 1.511". Fits like a glove but wouldnt fit if I didnt grind the tangs down. I dont know what part number it is and the link is not working yet.

A guy here sells (or did) polished caps made from billet aluminum (~$35 ebay), as I recall.
