I've always been a fan of the GT-40 and Ford GTs and this 2016 racer is one sweet looking machine. I loved the curvy road racing cars of the 60s and 70s too like the Chaparral, Maserati type 60, McLarens.... and the L O L A Lola T-70!

Sweet post! I will be attending the Vintage event at my local track again this summer. Road America hosts a 50th anniversary of the Can Am series... over 30 Can Am cars registered... A few years ago I went to the same event and they had a tribute to Jim Hall (Chaparral) And I got to see the fan car along with all of his others.

My uncle just bought a Camel Lights GTP car that he will be running this year. It was an ex Scott Pruitt car... I may get a chance to drive it at some point :)

I also got to see this baby for a few years live... nothing like a screaming Ferrari V12 F193A

These are the model cars and slot car bodies I craved as a kid!

If you are ever in San Diego in Setember I highly recommend the "Coronado Speed Festival" where they turn the air base into a track and race everything from muscle cars, vintage Porsches, Ford GT's,.....and the pits are open to the public! Huge car show with everything imaginable too.

not sure if you mean something specific by brand X - but this Darth Vader looking bad boy turns the wheels for me 100% --1987 GNX -- I'd give up my Harley and my Scamp for it in a heartbeat..

I had the ’87 "normal" Grand National. I loved the car, but I hated always getting pulled over by the police for no reason. Seems that all the drug dealers in NJ drove these cars everywhere. I traded it even up for a 1970 Roadrunner 383 4 speed in need of total resto.

I like the 71 Boss 351 Mustang.

70 boss 302 mustang , was the best of my handlers from the day , just could not keep the motor together . 64 chevy imp ss 327 4spd just as fast as the rest . 78 z28 , did not even compare , 71 lt-1 corvette , what a joke ! 69 roadrunner 383 auto , 69 dart gts 340 auto , 66 sat comando 383 4spd , they would all stay right there with any of them . well but the boss could flat out corner any of them . but they all chased parts for that ford ! just to keep it on the road . funny thing is i never had to chase parts for the chrysler clan of rides . thats is why there the only thing in the stables now .

not brand X but a few brand E..as in English...I got a few of these about the place...just something about the smaller cars and especially the smaller English cars with American V8's as factory equipment...

I know that feeling...I sold my blacked out Dodge Omni GLH because every time I took it out the cops would go out of their way to fall in behind me...I never had that once in the years I owned my Arrest Me Red Porsche...or for that matter my Sunbeam Tiger the 25 years I have owned this car..

I'm a mopar guy through and through. But the "other guys" do have some interesting stuff. Flatheads are always cool. Anything pre 60's is always cool. Jaguar E types/astons/MGB/etc are always really cool. I'm also really big into bikes, specifically the cafe style. Old Nortons/BSA/Triumphs are just awesome.

And of course. Anything that was hand made back when it wasn't all about mass production. But when owning a vehicle was much more of a statement. A lot of companies that no longer exist made cool vehicles. Vincent motorcycles. Indians. Duesenberg. You get the idea.

But in the end. Going fast IS cool. So I appreciate anything that goes fast.

67Dart440GT Your are 100% correct the Road Am. Vintage outing in July is truly amazing. I would encourage anyone that can make it a must go. Unfortunately this will be the first year in over 25 I have not made it there as a competitor or crew member. And yes the Ferrari going down into turn 5 at full throttle, truly amazing !!!

That #6 gulf machine is a piece of automotive art.
For non mopar car bodies, I always liked the Willy's gassers of the 60s.

where they turn the air base into a track

I assume you are referring to NAS North Island?

When I was at Miramar in the early 70's we had a base commander for a period who was "into" Zumwalt and his philosophy, and they had a flag started drag race on base. I HAD TO WORK. Yeh. I was a bit upset. This however might have gone either way. Instead of shutting down the field and holding it on the runways, they held it on the road from the west gate. "Miramar Way." At that time it was a fairly narrow paved road. If anyone had gotten out of shape it could have been twitchy.

Old Mini's, Jap Kei (micro-cars) and old GT40s especially the MKI and MKIV. I used to like "Tri-five" Chevys, but have become absolutely sick of them. They are all fake (repopped everything) as well as their owners who bought them like that.
PS> that "Eco-Boost" Ford GT was a dog at Long Beach GP. Turbo V6? Sure, but dont come to play with the gun slinging V8 Corvettes and Mustangs with a knife. It is a smooth ride though.

Yep North Island. The set up a nice track and bleachers....here's a pov race:

Some drag races would be awesome. I would love to see some early 70's drag races on Miramar that sounds awesome!
