WARNING:

Hello. I am a member here and I tried in vain to buy a '65 Barracuda from a very disreputable cretin named "Mike" who goes by the name "leisurehour" who says he lives in Bakersfield, Ca. . After 2 weeks of discussions on the phone and e-mails and text messages, I thought we were going to be ready to have the car inspected and then haggle on a price, but he didn't want to. He stumbled when I asked him for the following: his last name (which I STILL don't know), a copy of the title and his home address, so I can send an inspector to see this car. This car has an interior that must be mostly replaced (expensive) and not one drop of paint on the outside (a great paint job is very expensive!). He claims the car has 116,000 original miles, but with the shot interior, I'd say it has more like 216,000 miles. I called today, but he didn't answer his phone, which he did the last two times I called him, which is 9 am his time. I left a message in his voicemail telling him I needed to hear from him and to tell me whether we where still negotiating or not. He left a message after my 12:30 lunch break, so he knew I wouldn't be around to answer the phone. He told me that I was being NIT-PICKY about needing an inspection and to see a copy of the title, which anyone who has bought a used car knows to do, if they are acting in their own best interest, if they are being prudent. He told me that I was the one who stumbled and that some guy came around and he sold it to him, just like that, in ONE DAY! Bullshit. Beware of this joker. Btw, he feels that I was trying to get a $25,000. for $5,000. First of all, we didn't agree on nor did I offer him, $5,000. He was asking $7,000. for it initially. Secondly, his junker is NOT worth $25,000. If it was in concours condition, it would be worth about that much. I have other choice names for him, but I'll refrain. He is a liar, a fink, a welsher and a scumbag.

So, you are warning us that this guy wouldn't sell you his car? Granted, there was some back and forth and no sale when you pressed him for documentation, but what's the problem? You are likely better off than if you bought the thing.
