The inst' bezel is first chromed in a vacuum metalizing process. Afterwards, everything else including paint and/or woodgrain is added. If the china man doesn't offer a 69 bezel to your special application paint scheme, Just not enough call for it.
You could paint over his argent with a trim black. The masking is difficult and time consuming.
I've often wondered why there aren't die cut peel and stick vinyls in lots of sexy looks ( and matte black of course ) to apply here.
