Cause I have to. No more one wheel burning off ramps for the 48 year old. The spider gear and shaft are one.

Didnt know they were approaching 600 clams. Glad its not a yearly purchase. On a good note, have not read anything at all bad about the unit, takes a pounding. 300 hp should be no sweat.

I told them to call him. Was in a rush, hopefully they did. Spider welded itself to the shaft during a increasing radius tire spin.

"489" (Case = 8-3/4") in the thread title.
Duh, I missed that. lol
What has happened is the cones bottom out, causing the two small spiders to spin all the time. Sooner or later the spiders seize on the shaft, then rip the .250 x one inch cross shaft keeper out of the case. After that the shaft spins in the case wearing the hole bigger and bigger. At this point you have a 25 lb paper weight!

This!

if you have an 8.75 and are putting a Trutrac into it, I wish you the best. I love the way the clutchless system works but could not stand the noise of the side gears slapping about inside the trutrac, Eaton sent out a warranty replacement and is worse. if you running headers, or 3" with drop tips at the diff you wont hear it. In the end I built a D60 with a Strange S-Trac, google noisy TruTrac, you will be supprised.

Like I said, google it, I have a detailed post over on CC.com with pics and video. 9" systems and D60, seem ok but others not so, I think the ford guys with the late model 8.25 or whatever it is and the Mopar 8.75 seem to be the problem ones

I ended up buying a Powr Lok from Cass. Very happy with it and the service I got from him. He could have sold me a more expensive unit, but I feel like he chose honesty and integrity over an easy buck.

Cass is a stand up guy, I owe him a lot for all of his help over the times,

Precision transmission in Pennsauken on rt. 130. Steve stands behind his work and they have a couple mopar guys there. Barry is doing my diff, He has a 66 383 Charger he wont part with. The owner did my 904, shifts well.

50 miles and its everything they said. Quiet from the get go, should be the last time the rear gets opened for a while.
