if you want to use that carb on a 318 -340 engine..
just think about ...that this carb has the bigger primarys..
for a 318-340 engine...the smaler primarys are better...
Greetings Juergen
If the 318 is stock to a very mild hop up, the primary side is a bit big but workable.
The carb is a desirable kind of unit since it is a '73. The tube in the carb can be replaced.
I wouldn't even worry an once about the "LP" issue since it feed a 440. Which has mucho more power then a decently warmed up 318.
Thanks rumblefish , I was thinking on putting it on my 340 pretty much stock except for a xe 268 comp cam. 727 with 2200 stall and 355 gears. Do you think that this would be a good choice?
Thank you for your information, I have a few TQS in a box I may have some different rods and jets. I have one that has no part #but has a sticker on the float bowls that says "Thermoquad " with flames. It also has chrome linkages? Do you know anything about this?
Does it look like the one I have below?
What are the numbers on it and is the throttle linkage the same?
Notice the mixture screws up front are splayed and not in line parallel on a downwards angle.
So what is this, a aftermarket carter?
Also are they any good or so hard to find parts for they are obsolete?
With no part number I would think that would be tough to get a kit .
It's a race carb. IIRC, a '70 kit will work with it. It has press in jets while the rest have screw in jets. The carb also meters the air and fuel differently than the rest. It's an air bleed carb and the rest are solid fuel carbs.
