Dodge dakota infinity replacment speakers?

-
Yes, I searched all around their website, did not see any 2 ohm speakers.

And I have searched the internet a fair amount too.

I dont know what the hell's going on with the 2 ohm deal.

Holler if you find anything out and I will too.
.

I went to (Dont Laugh) Walmart. In the auto department they have some
very nice ones. HD by Scosche. Tri axial style. I had to mount a little different
than the orignals. Don't think they were more than $45.00 a pair. Big watt
and the sound great. Can really blast them. I think the ohm rating on the
factory and the replacements were 4 ohm.

Well, I have seen on several websites that the infinity speakers are 2 ohm
Plus swedenfish shows 2 ohm. Hold on I will test one of mine I pulled.. from my 01 dakota with infinity radio / tape deck.

Front speaker (6.5" approx) seems to fluctuate slowly from 1.5 - 1.8 ohms.
.

Most aftermarket automotive speakers will be 4 ohms, and most home speakers will be 8 ohms. With out getting into a lot of money and still have decent quality, brands like Infinity, Kenwood, and Pioneer (to name just a few) all have decent choices. Many brands have varying levels of price/performance, from inexpensive entry level and up to competition level.

thanks Brian, I think I'll sign up for amazon card & get $30 off purchase-- making it less than $85 for 4 infinity speakers!! Lawrence

just purchased-- with tax & shipping $90.32 (4 speakers Infinity Reference 6032si)

Hey, VDART,
Let us know how they sound!

Which ones did you get please?

I drove around the hills today and listened to queens of the stone age for a while.

Gotta get better speakers.

Probably give my sound ordinances to my neighbor for his 72 ranger 4x4 with facotry 390 4 speed. All he needs is basic anyway. His radio has no speakers now.

Update:

I bought 4 of the Infinity Reference 6032cf and they fit perfectly in my doors and rear panels.

The rears I bought the foam bass blocker chambers. I tested the speakers without them and speakers would bottom out on high bass music. Also next I am getting bass blockers for the front speakers.

Overall, sounds quite decent. I can crank the music and it sounds clear with good bass. 5 times better than the sound ordinance speakers. I am fairly sure the factory infinity system is not all that high perf anyway, so the speakers are about as decent as the rest of the system in my opinion.

Like mentioned, and I agree, after my experiences, if someone wanted to really crank and rock the F out, they should pull the entire infinity system completely out and build a matched system.
On the other hand:
I drive an 05 F150 for work and it has factory basic 4 speakers with a Pioneer 8400BH and it will cleanly blast all Metallica songs at 80 % volume, vibrating the whole truck which is enuff to make my ears ring after a couple hours. I never even need to put it on 100% for fear of damaging my ears. So, even a basic 50x4 aftermarket head unit ($125 on amazon) and ford factory 4 ohm (?) probably paper speakers are better than my entire infinity system.

I hope you didn't pay more than $25/pr for them... the 6.5" Pioneers I put in my Durango sound WAY better than the stockers did..

I got 2pr of 3 way 6.5" Pioneer Premiers for $25/pr used off eBay- modified the stock speaker buckets and they work great

Do yourself a huge favor, rip all the factory infinity junk out, get a nice head unit and and round out the other speakers with matching ones and be light years ahead on sound. If you are feeling frisky add powered sub and a head unit with Hight pass and low pass frequency filters. Block the lows to your doors and highs to your sub.

No need to measure amps or volts at the speaker. measure the resistance, ohms, by measuring at the + and - terminals of the speaker.

If the rear speakers were 2ohm and you replaced with 4 ohms you have lost 3dB of sound.

Are those speakers 2 ohm? What is the PN?

Update: I was running a radio fm transmitter RediRad inline on the antenna coax for a year in conjunction with my factory head unit. It was anemic for my moderate needs. It also failed on the headphone wire connector in a year. The factory infinity deck was anemic too.

Finally I just put a pioneer 6600 bluetooth head unit in. Already worlds of difference. More control of my fairly new infinity speakers as they dont distort hardly at all. Literally Double the sound volume, bass and clarity. Next I am bypassing my infinity amp bc it is apparently the weak link / with my head unit making more rms than my factory inline amp.

Hi All,

I finally bypassed the infinity amp and am really glad I did.

So, I am still running infinity 2 ohm replacement speakers and the pioneer bluetooth head deck with supposedly 4x50 watts but really it's rms is 4x 17 or so. I know 2 ohms is not right for the head unit so I will eventually get 4 ohm speakers.

The good thing about these infinitiy speakers is they are low rms so does not require lots of watts to run.

So, it sounded better with the new head unit by a large margin but still acted strange at heavy volume. I suspected my factor amp was not tolerating the input line very well coming from the head unit.

I came across this and did the mod. This is another 50% improvement. So happy that this process was straight forward and took less than 30 minutes. Results are great.

Hope this helps someone.

Just posting the info on the link in case of it disappearing>

A couple people have contacted me on how to do this. The harnesses used are Metra 70-8901. They are for 1990-2006 Subaru vehicles and you will need 2 of them. They can be found on eBay or Amazon for around $10/each. They will look like this:

First take you connectors and label one A and the other one B. This will help in ease of wiring. The connectors should have the pin numbers labeled on the connector. The chart below will help you connect them together. If you want to keep the amount of wires down remove all the unnecessary wires. *Note* This will work for 1999 models. Don't know about other years.

Connector A-----------------------------Connector B
Pin 1---Remove
Pin 2---Remove
Pin 3---Remove
Pin 4---Violet---------------------------Pin 8---Gray w/BLK
Pin 5---Green---------------------------Pin 12---Violet w/BLK
Pin 6---Yellow--------------------------Pin 10---Red
Pin 7---Remove
Pin 8---Remove
Pin 9---Remove
Pin 10---Red-----------------------------Pin 3---White
Pin 11---Black----------------------------Pin 9---White w/BLK
Pin 12---Violet w/BLK---------------------Pin 2---Gray
Pin 13---Green w/BLK---------------------Pin 4---Violet
Pin 14---Blue-----------------------------Pin 11---Black

That should leave you with something looking like this:

Before you can put the connector you will need to shave a little bit off the middle dividers in the middle of the plugs. They should look like the picture below.

The stock amp is located in the passenger kick panel. It should just be clipped on. Remove that panel. You will see the amp tucked up there. Remove the 2 connectors going into it.

Now plug connection A into the larger connector and plug connection B into the smaller connector. Now put the kick panel on. Now you should have effectively bypassed the stock amp.
