I really liked the Classic Air setup, but after speaking to them I have to have power steering to use their system. Anyone have a recommendation for A/C with manual steering? The car is a 68 Barracuda with 16:1 Manual Steering, 4 Speed, 318

I have since added power steering and mines a later model car but I had manual steering double pulley on the alternator one belt crank - compressor - alternator other belt crank - water pump - alternator took some work to get them sized right

From what I understand you need the P.S. to tension the belt on the cast iron water pump system. Maybe you could fab up a tensioner where the P.S. would bolt to the water pump.

curious what you ultimately wound up doing for your a/c. I've got a very similar set up (manual steering, four speed, 318 ci). Im using headers and from what I understand P/S isn't an option with headers.

Depends on the headers. Doug's and TTI's both fit with power steering.

I purchased the idler pulley from a member on this site. I am pretty far off from installing a/c as I am still doing body work, but I like to have a plan and a goal. Also as usual 72bluNblu is correct, different headers allow for different clearance.

thanks fellas
I have hooker headers on my 318 and prefer to keep it a manual steering set up so I'll keep my eyes open for similiar set ups. Just finishing up my current build and brought the 68' barracuda home last weekend from storage to begin the planning and building..really getting excited to start on it!
