Can you camp on the grounds with hook-ups? Trailer parking? Thinking of going next year.
You can do what you want on the fairgrounds but they don't have electrical hookups on the fairgrounds. Need to be self contained. There is a park near where I live, Pinchot State park and they have everything and it has a lake and great place to stay nearby. You can have camp fires, fish, swim, etc.. Cheap to. Check it out. Its about 45 min drive or so one way to fairgrounds.

I stay at Western Village Campground. 10 min from the grounds, full hook up, pool, mini golf, arcade, ice cream, other activities at the pavilion. Cost me 141 bucks for 3 nights with the number of peeps with me. Very clean place.

I was told there was a record breaking amount of cars this year. 4 of the venders around me told me Saturday that they will not be back next year. If I was told right, there was 2,700 cars in the fun field. I know we will not be back next year selling parts. The people that told me that they will not be back have been going there 15 plus years.
Was it a sour experience, Wayne? I take it some vendors feel that way?

A few buddies that I caravaned to the show were with the A bodies though. , another drove his orange 71 340 stripe delete Duster (its for sale by the way), and another drove his yellow 70 318 Swinger (also for sale) and they were on the show field in the A body section.
****************************************************************
I originally planned to attend this year but a couple of other family related items had to be dealt with, so I missed the show.

If the orange 1971 Duster 340 --- the same one that was formerly owned by Bob M. (who also has the well restored 1970 yellow Challenger R/T ?

PM me what the asking price is for the 1971 Duster 340, as I will run it by a couple of people who may be interested.

I hope to make it next year ....

Holy cow Jim, You took a TON of pictures. Thank you for sharing! You snapped my Scamp too :thankyou:.
As far as the vendors, the ones I spoke with did fairly well. I think it's a matter of what you bring, condition, and cost...

I don't know about sour. lol I felt bad for the guy I was helping sell his parts. He spent a lot of money to do this & he didn't even make a 1/4 of it back. I will be posting some of his parts on here, FABO Don't get me wrong, I had a good time. Meeting & talking to people. Most people were looking for B body & big block stuff. O I never noticed this before but I love the POKORNY ENTERPRISES

I had a real good experience. 6 x my investment. And.. all of the Great Mopar experience on top of it. Vendors, Display Cars, Car Corral, and Yes, even the Daisy Duke Contest.

Mitch it was nice meeting you and several others. We had a great time and saw some beautiful cars. I came back by to see you and you were gone but Halifax was holding down the fort so got to meet him too. Maybe again next year, Joe

I'm 45 years old and my body aches. I'm going to rent a motor chair from now on! I never make it to show field either.
they rent power scooters at gate 3 at the carlisle show. tell them big mike sent ya from the gear head mafia car club. stop by next year 2017 and say hi. we are in a-body modified. we have a sassy grass green dart swinger with buzzin half dozen on the rear quarters

I am back home in Alabama. Had a great time with my brother and meeting several members here. I put almost 2100 miles on the "decoy" and didn't have an odometer on my feet but two solid days of walking I am sure put me over the 2100 mile mark. Thanks for the great time, Joe
Good meeting you Joe. See you next year

I do agree with Cawley on this post here he wrote.... and I agree with this 100%!! My brother and I were highly disappointed in vending/swap meet area, as for us, it was definately a bad year for selling parts, etc. This was the worst I have personally seen it, in many year's. There were people walking down the lanes, but not many stopping to look at stuff. I do think the walk through the gate people, was way down, as to just about 2-3 years ago, I heard the gate entrances had more than 45,000 people through them then, not this year in my opinion. We did end up in the negative for certain, still have not figured everything up yet, still working on that part. So, after driving 650 miles x2, and all the fuel it takes, food to eat everyday, we just cannot do this very often, as it really takes a toll on both of us!! I'll just say this, we will probably try 1 more year in 2017, and see what happens, another year like this one, it WILL be our last for sure. We can just work in our own four walls doing resto work, and not worry about all that wrote above. We don't cry about thing's, just stating real life fact's!! Anyway's.... we did enjoy our time with FABO members, 61dartrk, cudacrazy67, Woody, red67gts, MoparMitch, Philllyc, our buddy Zach from S.C. and many others. We really did enjoy our time with you all, especially when Philllyc went and bought pizza for all, and you to MoparMitch, for coming down to our camp on Fri night, and shooting the breeze, and talking about life, and many other thing's, as Philllyc and Mitch kept plenty of laughter going for the evening!! Thank you guy's for at least a happier Chryslers at Carlisle show!!!! Jeff & Jerry

Yea it is just not worth it anymore and all the hassle to sell parts there. Big sheet metal stuff maybe but selling parts on here is WAY more easier and cost effective.

When I went through the parts, a lot of venders had prices to high or not even marked. I bought more from venders with marked prices and better prices. I hate walking through parts and no prices.

I am glad you brought this up. This year, sales were definitely down. I doubled my spaces and packed a second vehicle full of parts...and sold less than 2014 and 2015!
I sell parts to raise money for my project cars, but this year I would have more to spend on them if I stayed home...I didn't even get to the show field.

This year, I also noted multiple requests for the following:
67-69 Barracuda
66-67 B-bodies

selling parts on here is WAY more easier and cost effective.
Excellent point! Even with adding the cost of shipping, FABO members are great buyers.

This is an interesting comment...Some but not all of my parts had prices. I keep a price sheet for my reference, but not a single part sold for the price listed. Everyone haggles for a lower price...I stay firm on my price on Friday, but by Sunday, the heavier parts get a better price!

You know. I looked all over down there and couldnt find a single 73 74 Valiant Duster hood. I bought one and someone stole it off of me. Should of just bought yours. Thats karma lol.

Tell ya what I like, I put a price on parts so the buyer & I talk about the price. I like it when people stop & ask if I would lower the price. 9 times out of 10 I will lower the price to where both of us are happy. I like the conversation that starts. Everyone that I bought & sold parts from here at FABO have been awesome. Wish I could meet all of them at that time. So with all that said, I am going to try to talk to my friend with the parts & see if he will let me sell his parts on here at FABO. All of it is A body & small block parts. Some original & some racing parts. All of it came off a demon at some point. It was a show car turned into a drag car. So if your looking for a certain part, ask he just might have it.

It's proportional to how badly I need the part. I definitely am quicker to buy something with price marked. If I really need something, I will ask. If I see something I am interested in, but don't really need, I am probably not going to make the effort when not marked. If it's marked cheap enough, I might impulse buy something I might not use for a long time, garage art, etc.

I had a great year at Carlisle, sales up from last year. I just lowered almost all my prices to move the parts. I worked with almost everybody that had realistic offers. Sold all my sheet metal that I brought. I did loose some sales because my spots was just to big and busy at times and I watched people walk away. I did have more spots this year (6 spots). It seemed that people came in clusters. I will down size for next year or have somebody else to help me. I also think why this year sales were down because its election year. I think next year will be back to normal. Don't give up guys. I only price about 10% of my stuff

@limegreen70 Someone stole it? Was this at the Fairgrounds?

@zkx14 I appreciate you stopping by and introducing yourself!

Good comments here. I also noticed if you had someone looking at your parts, that seemed to draw more people in.
One thing I tried is to have the buyer "make an offer" on an unpriced item. Seems like a simple way to close the sale, right? It wasn't.
Out of 5 "make offer" transactions, only 1 buyer actually made an offer, which I accepted.
The other 4 never even gave me a number!

Maybe they didn't want to insult me?
Maybe they didn't really need the part?
Maybe I'm over analyzing this, lol?

No. No. It was on tied down on top of my moms jeep and someone just took it. They aint worth mich and only worth 3 bucks scrap value so dont know why someone would want it.
Well that sucks. They had to know what it was. There is only so many cars out there that it will fit.

I went by to see burg but didn't see anyone there. I saw he was in the back corner

@red67gts I'm sorry missed you, but I appreciate the effort!
I was probably standing nearby talking to my neighbors...
I'll have the same spaces next year, on the end of Row O near Gate 7.

Thanks!
