I have changed my 1970 Dart from a Automatic to a 4 speed on the floor, I now want to change out the steering column to get rid of the column shifter. My car has power steering now and I do not want to change that. All I can find are manual steering columns, can a manual column be cut down to fit on the power steering gear box? As I assume the difference is the length of the end shift. Or am I totally missing something?[/QUOTE
I just completed this. It is actually quite simple. You can swap the power steering shaft from your existing steering column into the manual steering one. A factory service manual will provide step by step instructions nd some good diagrams to follow.
