I have 14" X 5 1/2" Rallye wheels that originally had E70-14 tires on them. What modern day tire size replaces the E70-14?

Quick search says:

215/60-14 - 8.5" Width 5.1" Sidewall height 24.2" Overall height
205/70-14 - 8.07" Width 4.84" Sidewall height 23.68" Overall height
195/80-14 - 7.67" Width 6.14" Sidewall height 26.27 Overall height

At least according to my quick calculations.

G70-14 = 225/70-14
F70-14 = 215/70-14
E70-14 = 205/70-14
D70-14 = 195/70-14
7 years experience in a tire shop at the time of the change from the old system to the new system.
You can co up a size but that will throw your speedometer out of wack, it will indicate slower than you are actually going. Lets say you are going 70 mph, your actual speed will be closer to 80 mph.

The most common and closest is the P20570R14 Like Lustle said the other sizes will work also.

The Michelin Defender is a good and long lasting tire but the Michelin or other company's performance tire have soft and sticky compounds and wear fast as heck!

Only owned one set of Michelins; they made my Jeep Grand Cherokee ride like a lumber wagon. I'll never buy another. I have had superior luck, performance and longevity from Dunlops.

I just put the Defender 205/70-14 on my convertible and I like them so far. Good grip, good in rain, seem to give good gas mileage on a couple of long trips.

I'm afraid so

the last pair i got i bought from a member here...but they will need to get replaced at some point

Im running Michelin 205/70 14s
Quiet...smooth.... amazing grip for a small tire.
I run Michelins on my Ram.....on my KTM 300 dirtbike....on my BMW GS650 Dakar....on our Acura TSX....
Ive tried many other brands on all the vehicles but the Michelins just seem to work best and get more miles of use.....

205/70R14 is the closest.

E70-14 were 25.7" dia and had 8" section.
205/70R14 are 25.4" dia and have a 8.2" section, at least if you buy a good tire like Michelin.
Michelin Defender
Or if he goes to a straight up 26 inch diameter tire, he'll be off the same
amount in the other direction!
LOL!

That tire isn't like a in between size tire.
LOL

It's not nearly that bad. With tires around of 26" every .10" change in diameter is around 3-4% on the speedometer. For example, if it reads 60 mph with 26.0" tires, the speedometer will read 60.2 mph with 25.9" tires.

I just found a N50x15 on my property. I don't remember the name on the tire but it was raised white letter. That thing is super wide. I doubt that it is any good anymore don't know how long it has been down there. Has some tread left on it but prob. dry rotted.
