My PLASTIC addiction.....

How about a trans kit to make a 67 or 68 Barracuda out of all those 69s out there.

Hood, header panel, rear trim.

I'd love a conversion kit to make a 66 Coronet or Belvedere/Satellite out of the 67 R/T or GTX.

That would have to have a deck lid (maybe not for the novice) as well as bumpers and interior.

The mpc cuda fastback kit was offered as a 67 and a 69. Not sure about a 68. I saw a 67 glue bomb being parted out on evilbay. I think the guy made about $250 out of all the parts. It was insane, just like parting a real one. This kit had potential too, it wasnt badly assembled, and the bonus was that it was never painted, straight white plastic. Mint vintage model car lol.

I think if you find one of these being parted you may be able to get the 67 hood, taillights, and grilles. Shave the bump on the nose flat, and cut the grille openings to fit the 67 grilles, and sand and fill the 69 side parking lamps. Instant 67.

Pishta, Honestly? I don't see EITHER "offensive" at all! They were BOTH some sort of history worldwide.... like it or not, its true!
I don't see either as offensive myself. Just pointing out the double standard of today's BS. Anything can offend anyone nowadays, it's just what is in fashion now. I guess the US flag is out of fashion at the DNC, although when someone called them out on it on day 1 they rushed to get a few up there for day 2.

I know Revell makes a 1:25th scale '67 Coronet R/T..... so what would it take to make a '66? I think a Grille and maybe some other small detail as well as making the hood fit the different grille contour (I'm NOT sure if its the same or not) but, I know their is also a 1:25th scale '65 Coronet 500 done in plastic as I have one! -Made by Polar Lights...

I agree Pishta, libs have double standards and usually a cause dujour or a few that are their pets. Your cause may be in vogue today, and out tomorrow. Being friends with em is like having a rattlesnake for a pet. But this is a model thread , so i'm gonna step off my soap box.

Well I know that the '69 'Cudas was done by AMY as well as MPC..... The car I have in pieces missing the bumpers and grille is a older AMT kit.... Which if my memory serves me right that tooling that kit was made from dates back to the MPC days!

NOW, as for the '67 the '68 and the '69, the grilles are all different right? So the inside contour would be different! As for that is the hoods different (I REALLY don't know!) BUT if your talking about plastic models, I can't see why it be difficult to make a master copy from an existing part and make the body fit it.... Just me and how I customize/master copy things....

Thats how it should be all this political correctness bullshit on top of the things our government tries to hide or make "go away" is horse ****! Just like the Soviets did with the Nazi's.... Sure be ashamed BUT it was once a reality!

Good call! LOL Step into the soap box that the model making companies don't make EVERY Mopar Body style instead...... LOL I'd be in that one too! LOL

First one a 1/24th scale 1960 valiant V200, and a 1962 dodge lancer, followed by a 1960 dart phoenix, oh wait, id never sell enough of these to recoup my tooling costs. Thats what prolly killed off johan.

GREAT goin man! LOL

NOW I'll toss out a couple I'D LOVE to see in 1/25th plastic.....

1958 Dodge Coronet, a 1958 Dodge Power Wagon W-500, and a 1957 Plymouth Satellite

Hey power wagon, i hope you know i was joking. Those wouldent ever sell in enough numbers to recoup the tooling costs.

-I don't know..... You think of it, how often you see anything like that!? They might sell! I mean really, look at the old '70's Dodge trucks, they thought back when MPC did them, they'd be a flop on sales and today those SAME kits beat up trashed and needing rebuilt are pulling well over $125 a KIT.......... and there were MILLIONS of them sold!

I remember back in the late 80's early 90's when AMT-Ertl retooled the Little Red Express '78 Adventurer pick up, they were talking about not being able to re-gain tooling costs and low and behold BOON now they want to do another run of them by Round 2 Models (who owns MPC and AMT to date) SO..... We'll see...

As for those you posted, I think ANY thing Mopar made as a model in the 50's and early 60's be a good seller. there are nothing to compare them too already being made! So it goes back to say, if there is nothing out there as such, you just never know!

I just know I'd just LOVE to see some of the old 70's Dodge Van's come back too! (I got a need for a '75/'76 Dodge Trademan!) Which MPC made back in the day but to find one today is pushing $200 for a damned model kit! -I'm still trying to allocate the "Bad Company" '82 Dodge Ram van that just got re-released.....

I had the johan 60 fury wagon kit. Got it at a super discount from the hobby store back then i think a buck fifty. Some body styles just arent that popular. Model companies go with popular body styles and such. But thats why resin refits are popular with true enthusiasts, as they can build exactly what they want.

I'd KILL to get my hands on some of the older Jo-Hans stuff.......sadly, I ain't got the funding to buy, BUT I can trade if I could find one of them! -I have but one "wagon" the new '07 Dodge Magnum, an thats it! I got parts to a van that was hacked up (was thinkin' to make a custom A100 Van with it), as the guy that had the whole kit, used the cab to make a model camper from it.... UNLESS I can get my hands on one of the Jimmie Flintstone Resin A100 Vans, thats what may happen!

Heres the pic off the bottom of my unopened general lee model. Notice the flag on the decal sheet.

67/68 the upper valance was the same stamping on the real car. On the 67 they put plymouth in individual letters across it. 68 it was smooth with plymouth lettering on the left corner of the hood

The grille surrounds and headlamp doors on the real 67/68 were similar enough that pieces can be interchanged with minor differences such as screw mounting holes etc .

The grille centers on the 67 were a metal eggcrate type pattern, with one type of turn signal lens, the 68 used plastic grille inserts and lenses of a different design.

The 67/68 used the same hood stamping, however both years has their own design metal inserts on the hood. 67 has real thin fins, 68 used a pattern of chrome, argent silver, black and fake moulded in allen key bolts.

The 69 used a smooth bulged hood with no inserts, that was later recycled and used on 73 to 76 darts. As such its upper valance fits this hood, and its grilles are shaped differently.

I think you could use the 69 model, shave the side reflectors, and add in 68 style round side parking lights. Shave the bump on the upper valance to use the flatter 67/68 hood. I think the 67 grilles could be used and with your talent you could make a mould to make 68 style grille inserts, and 68 style hood inserts. These are not as intricate as the 67 ones. The emblems and fishes on the sides of the fenders are similar for all 3 years and about the same locations. If modeling the 69 as a 68, shave off the lower valance reverse lamps, as these are not on the 68. Taillights will be a bit tricky as you can find 67 lenses and 69 lenses. You could probably use the 67 lenses and reverse the colors on them. Use red in the centers, clear around the perimeter this would make them look more like 68s.

I'd have to have a kit in-hand look at the parts to it, and then pics of the real thing (Model car being a '69) as it seems to be a BUNCH easier to get.....

Just to compare the model parts of a '69 to a '67 and a '68 would be the key.... ONE year at a time as this could get VERY confusing! LOL

This is the 1/25th kit I presume? NOW to find out of the 1/16th has the same decals in it....

I've read tho, they had removed them all together as of last year! The date on the box you have is 2011..... I HAVE that kit, I thought it was one of the recently sold kits as of last year!
