Bought a converter for my poor old diesel Ram, from a man who uses 30 non detergent motor oil in their racing trans. It doesn't seem to matter whats in an automatic, as long as it lubes the thing.
I disagree. ATF is a vary HIGH Detergent oil. 30w non detergent motor oil would NOT go in mine!!!
I will 2nt using ATF +4, good stuff.
Someone else mentioned "Joe Gibbs synthetic type f." My first thought was that would be good as it would hold up to a lot more heat..................than i thought, Hmmm torque converter fins will fold over at the same temp as with conventional atf.
So that bring me back to cheap walmart dexron III and a "GOOD" Transmission COOLER!:thumbsup:
