Time to change the fluid and filter what brand are you guys that race regularly using???..

Pennzoil, Dextron III as recommended by my tranny builder, John Cope.

I don't use type F.....Dex/Merc III is all I use in my old mopars....That F is for Fords

What ever is the cheapest Type F I can find. Works just as good as the expensive snake oil.

Walmart carries a brand that is supposed to be the replacement to use where the original called for was the old Dexron III. Works good for me in my A-904..

Type F is supposed to make it shift harder.......my manual rev valve body shifts plenty hard with good old DEX III

I've heard of some people swear by using tractor hydraulic fluid. I use a type F/ dexron mix myself. Or whatever's on the shelf.

Super Tech, Auto Transmission Fluid, for those requiring Dexron III. Walmart Stores, 2.84 /qt. hard to beat.

I use ATF +4. great high temp characteristics. Dave at Pro Trans certainly didn't persuade me to do otherwise...

Bought a converter for my poor old diesel Ram, from a man who uses 30 non detergent motor oil in their racing trans. It doesn't seem to matter whats in an automatic, as long as it lubes the thing.

That's what I use with no issues 303 hyd fluid I do put in two quarts of dextron just to dye it red to see on the stick 5 gallons of 303 run under $30 usually.

Like I always say, you could use recycled French fry oil and they would still work just fine.
Type F has different friction modifiers in it than Dexrons that make the clutches and bands grab a bit quicker, but most people would never notice the difference.
Viscosity and lubrication are the two most important qualities of a good fluid.
Ever notice how your trans works a bit different when it's cold?
That's a viscosity difference causing that.

Also, did you know that Mopar used straight up 30 weight motor oil in the transmissions for some of their cars that went into police fleet service? :D

I disagree. ATF is a vary HIGH Detergent oil. 30w non detergent motor oil would NOT go in mine!!!
I will 2nt using ATF +4, good stuff.
Someone else mentioned "Joe Gibbs synthetic type f." My first thought was that would be good as it would hold up to a lot more heat..................than i thought, Hmmm torque converter fins will fold over at the same temp as with conventional atf.

So that bring me back to cheap walmart dexron III and a "GOOD" Transmission COOLER!

John Deere hydraulic fluid with a little trans fluid to give it some color.

Same here.
After a season and a half of racing I had my tranny builder tear it down for an unrelated matter and I asked him to replace clutches/steels/bands while he had it open. He said everything inside was fine.

any type F and a Qt of 10/30 in all my 727's.

I had an Austin America that had a shared sump between the motor AND the automatic trans.....what a POS! I suppose if you were religious on the oil changed it may last 50K.
