1966 valiant convertable

I did the same removal and install on my 66 dart vert. It is a 6X9 speaker. Sometime later they went to a 4X10 speaker for the dash, maybe 67 ?

You will have to take out the radio, and heater controls in all likelyhood. I installed a dual voice coil speaker in its place. The retro radio outfits like custom sound etc sell these.

I also bought a pair of the kick panels that Dvert talks about above and installed speakers in them. I believe he was making and selling these a while ago. Very nice parts and they work great. Just need to pay attention to the depth of your speakers. First pair of speakers I bought were too deep and interferred with installation.

thanks 66dartgt
do you have a picture of the install? I still have not seen any of my kick panels installed and other than the slimline (or lack of depth) there has not been any feedback concerning the fit of the part to the car. I'm always shooting for a better part.
Yup those were the slimline style. 2 inch or less depth speakers. I'm working on a modified mold for 2.7 inch speakers with and without the little 1 inch remote speaker. My wife wants me to do 4'x6 for the front and rear panel of her 66 convertible when I start on it. I'm thinking an add on pod to the rear side panel near the foot-well that's my choice. or she wants me to make the whole panel out of ABS and have a speaker molded right in using a 4x6 inch oval pointed forwards and on the angle so the front seat gets the sound
