Threads stripped in Vert. lift cylinders. How Do U fix them??

The metal is soft....Anyone mastered this before? Any tips on tapping new threads a size larger than original size?
 
Why not use a heli-coil and get it back down to the original size???

Ok then, what size are you trying to go for...

There are charts to tell what size hole to drill to tap for each specific thread size. You need to look up what size thread that you are going to use and then use the chart...
