Hi guys, I am starting my A-903 3-speed to A833 4-speed switch and when I installed the 3-speed in the car (64 Dart GT) I had to make a floor hump out of sheet metal. Now I have a fiberglass floor hump, but I can't see where to put it. Does it butt up against the re-enforcing plate that has the seat holes in it? Also do I have to move the seat over to clear the hump? Any help would be great.

you might want to take off the sheet metal hump, install your tranny and then start finding the correct fit for your hump - you want the shifter coming through the hump in the right spot - here's a pic of the hump placement with the shifter in place on my '66 Barracuda

Thanks, that helps. I was wondering about the gas pedal bracket on the floor too, this fiberglass hump looks like it would possibly interfere with the connection of the pedal. If I position the hump so that the oval opening is centered above the shifter mechanism then it would be over the holes in the floor for my seat installation. I think that I might have to move my seat over anyway to the other holes on the outboard side to get it by the shift hump for my wife to drive the car, to pull the seat forward. I am going out to do some work on it right now, I will take some pics.

yes pics will help. Are you sure you have the right hump? it should fit right in there and not interfere with anything like the seats or especially the gas pedal.

Well I installed the A-833 in the Dart tonight, and let me tell you it was not easy without a lift. I put the car up on jack stands and used a small cheap transmission jack from harbor freight. But after a few hiccups it went in, like the throwout bearing getting knocked off of the clutch fork when I pushed the tranny forward into the bellhousing. I had it all lined up perfect and noticed that it was off! I had to remove it and fix it then do it all over again. I did get the floor cut for the hump and it looks like it will be ok. Sorry I was to rapped up in the work to get pics, but i will get some tomorrow.

Here are some of the pictures that I could remember to take. I did have one small hiccup with this swap, the dual exhaust lines run right next to and just under the transmission. So when I went out to test drive it, I could hear an exhaust leak under the hood, where I undid the manifold pipe for the swap but did not tighten all the way. My test drive went smoothly, so when I got back home I tightened the flange. This is where it went to sh__ ! When I was done tightening the flange, I went back out for another test, and found that I could not get the car into reverse very easily, and once I did, I could not get the car into second gear at all! So, to make a long story short, I found that the exhaust pipe was jammed up against the reverse linkage. I had to go to my favorite local muffler guy and ask for some advice. He sold me an extra flange and 2 gaskets, and I installed it like a spacer to drop the pipe about 3/8" to clear the linkage! All is good now!
