New member from Illinois - 1971 Plymouth Duster

Hello there,

I recently purchased a 1971 Plymouth Duster from another fabo member here on the forum. This will be my first very restoration and my first A-body. The car has an 8 3/4 rear end with a 489 casting differential housing. The suspension was rebuilt along with the brakes. The whole underbody was coated with por 15 and it is in great shape. The exterior is in pretty good shape with virtually no rust and some dents here and there. There has been some body work done, however. The dash and door panels are in excellent condition. The seats have some mold on them but are in really good shape. The car is in a somewhat disassembled shape. It needs a gas tank, gears, engine, trans, rear tailight panel, front and rear glass, and little odds and ends. It came with a 5.9 magnum but i'm not completely sure if i'm going to use it or not. I'm thinking I will organize and prep the trim, seats, interior pieces, etc... for winter storage and get to work on an engine and trans. I would really love to build a 318 la(I loved my 318 in my ram 1500) for this duster and maybe throw a rebuilt a904 or 727 behind it. Then I will redo the interior hoping to keep a stock look. After that I will throw in the glass and get the bodywork and paint done. I am going to have it painted the original color with the original pin stripe.
