Curious about this

I've never seen this, or noticed it,this is the main harness

then it plugs into this adapter

then into the Dizzy

I could plug the dizzy right into the main harness,they reach, but the wires would be reversed. Is this a factory thing or something the PO did or who cares drive the car.
