Long freeway drive report on the 5.9 and 42RH-OD

LOL! Just givin us some of your own:D but congrats on the awesome setup! I might have to pester you in a few years about the 42rh setup as I'd like to put an SRT4/42rh combo in my 67 valiant 4 door then for a fun, fuel efficient, family cruiser

Any time, just ask.

Overdrive is your friend!!! Glad it did so well, I have often wondered what the diff would be between EFI and carb...less than 3 mpg in this instance. The 71 I built with OD had 8 3/4 3.23 SG and got 26+ MPG at 80 with A/C cranked to 11. I know you have put a lot of hard work on it, nice to see it pay off in such a satisfying way.

With the rear end gears I have I don't really even need the lockup function, but when I put the Cherokee rear end in it that'll change because of the lower gearing.
I am running an A/F of about 14:1 average, so it's not like I'm dumping more fuel than it needs or anything.
One thing I was leery of was detonation at the lower RPM's of OD with lockup under a road speed load, but I was a little comforted that my mechanical timing doesn't start coming in until a bit after 2k (2-2.5).
The vacuum advance is in play at those throttle openings and RPM's though, and I run an initial of 20.
Never heard it and was even running 87 fuel, so it can't be to far off.

Thanks Evan.

Hell yes,Greg... Nice to see improvement, with late model hot rodding..It's a whole new world..

Best three days I have spent on the car in awhile Tim.
Looking forward to coming out your way again and visiting, as it's been awhile.
You can test drive it for me. :D
