Hello mopers!

This strange machine has been on a used car lot on the edge of time for a while and I just had to take a closer look.

Despite my best efforts, I can't seem to figure out what this this is.

Any ideas? -LY

Not a crane house for sure. Tow or push rig of some sort. Or maybe an old school bomb cart from a shipyard

That rig underneath front to back looks like a Brush Hog, I'm stumped, crane cab for power line poles??

One of the many overlooked needs on any airfield are the various support duties. Here is a ubiquitous Air Force tug at Biggs AFB during the late 1950s. This vehicle is an MB-2 that was produced by several manufacturers, with Euclid being the best known. They were often called "Ukes" by ground personnel. The MB-2 continued in production for many years and the later models changed somewhat in appearance. This "retired" MB-2 continues to soldier on in civilian service at the Midland, Texas airport.

Wow, I can picture one of these towing a B-52 across the tarmac, looks well built for its purpose.

I moved to G-Town about 12 years ago, I'm surprised you recognized the lot from those pix!

Weare is still the local epicenter for NH-Dubmass syndrom, some things never change. :)

Just noticed your address from your location under your FABO name. You must of moved in after I moved out. I am sure by know you have met Gary at Winkel auto just outside of Milford. Great guy and lots of A-body cars and parts. When I go back to visit will look you up. And yes, left just as the great Taxachusetts moved up to settle.

It looks as though the rear hitch can be raised or lowered to hook them to each other front to back, Or to raise it to the axle hieght of the plane it is towing.

Perfect vehicle for city traffic. No reason for full coverage insurance. Add a train horn and give all a warning toot.

Good to hear from you, I hope the Ozarks suit you; the last few winters have been brutal even by our standards.

Hillsborough County has a pretty healthy Mopar culture, there is a lot going on up here.

Now that you mention it, taking the Masshole invasion into account.... suddenly a LOT of things in Weare are starting to make a lot more sense... -LY
