Hi I have a 71 duster v8 k member with a 400 With tti's headers and have read at least a 100 post in this.
I am using the Schumacher mounts and big bolt disc front end the center link is hitting the edge of the 187 oil pan my question is my trans sitting to low or my mounts to low
Everything I read says dent the oil pan but from what I see it would be a decent size dent to do this and I hate to. I will attach pics of the problem and of my trans to firewall I was wondering if it is to low and how it compares to others any help is appreciated thanks

I suppose the difference in pre 73 steering linkage design could be a factor.
I always thought the center link was symmetrical ( both ends the same ) but another member here discovered that wasn't so. He switched the center link end for end and cured his. Was that 73 and up or the earlier like yours ? I don't recall.

So just an update I loosened the nut on the trans mount and raised the tailshaft slightly
And it worked! So my question is the cheap anchor mount that I bought not the right height or should I just shim it? I have always thought that the bellhousing sits to low from others I have seen, you can pretty much get a rachet in there for the top bell bolts

I tried switching it to and that didn't work
I'm just wondering if it's that trans mount making it sit to low???

Shim is a great solution, and don't forget you can do it with the motor also.
Surely someone will bring up pinion angle now, right? LOL

Ok just used 2 old shims I had from a steering box on each side under the biscuits
And put a very slight ding in the pan and we are good! Thanks for replys

I will add the the old style trans mount had a factory shim in between the tranny and the mount. I don't remember the thickness but I think it was an 1/8 in thick. Kim

Did you get any shims from Schumacher when you ordered your motor mounts? I used the shims and they helped with clearance.
