Just about to start my new swap

-
the winshield glued in sucks to removewithout the proper tools, basically like my dad said if you don't have the tool use your head. so i banged my head repeatedly untill the winshield was out and it made a bmf mess.

Goal for this set days off was finish installing and have working fireplace, fix computer, get drunk with neighbor so bad that you fell over into ontop of his step into the recycling bin full of glass cans food dished, remove subframe of engine and front wheels. Check, gotta be at work in 6 hrs need slepp post more later.

Couple teaser **** pics

And I think my wiring job is gonna be nerve wracking, KUDOS for tackling this project.

Better pics of the car body harness left engine harness on. Pedal pics as I have seen a few questions on clutch set up. Didn't realize hydraulic fluid was fed from the brake reservoir from the clutch, kinda cool.

Ok so i hit a snag actually it was a deer at high speed. Long story short was supposed to play in the snow and due to crappy weather ended up hitting a deer on my 450 r ktm two surgeries later 18 months off work bit of mush head left( no helment) where the hell to start. Both cars are gutted. Challenger front end right gone, engine trans, interior our out. Rear end is in. Dart engine trans are out dash wiring old rear end is in. Ordered Hdk complete kit . First steps to take next unsure of. Those that have done this before feel free to chime in with suggestions I'll read them all in order to try to lead off with the right foot.

As a recap builder is 72 dart, donor is challenger r/t 2012 6 speed, hemidenny k member coil over conversion. Rear parts are 741 3'rd member. Brand new carrier bearings, auburn posi, mosser axels.

Original plans were for stroked 318 there out for 5.7 hemi. Have the entire challenger car, think i'm a couple weeks out for hemidenny still. Where to start first, most important land marks of the build to make sure i get right. Will my axels and posi fit in a larger third member or am i stuck with the 741.(no r and p bought yet)

Got my last cast off a week ago so finally have 2 hands back somewhat. Where should i be starting. Thanks guys for the help and advice.

Also picked up a 1950's milwaukee mod 100 4 ton lift to lift front end up and dow while trial fitting hemi and tremec.

Cheers
Mike

Sheds built finally,so anything that doesnt have to do with the cars is out of the garage. No deer not the fridge thats for beer. I think i'm a week or 2.for hemidennys first k member with a challenger rack. Super happy dennys building it, don't know dick about steering geometry so that is a huge help. Gonna start zip cutting the trans hump out on monday from the challenger and commondere my buds welder for probably a year. Back to being excited, long time recovering. Sorry all who have been anticipating should be making steamway soon !!

Pics to come wednesday !!

Well I've finally started back working on the car again, 2 surgeries later for me and a long road. So heres whats new, I have my new hdk pkg in the garage, wilwood drop spindles and disc brake set up. Garage is organized with more room to work lots of shelves full of new parts. Going to try and do one thing a day even if it's small just to make progress. Front bumper, valance, rad support, passenger fender taken off today. Pics to follow from start to finish of hdk. install. Picked a Milwaukee bumper lift up that was built in the 60's,hoping to use it to lift frontend up to re&re k member. Will try and update my thread atleast every couple of days.

Night shifts right now so small progress . First day bumper and valance, passenger fender off. Grille is out. New k member from hdk. Few surprises as I'm taking stuff apart. Passenger door hinge had 6 washers in it to try and level the door from previous owner, half the bolts and screws were missing from the grille and valance. Drivers door hinge spring was broken laying inside inner fender. Steering rack had a bunch of weird shims above the coupler. Trans tunnel major butcher job at cross member looks to have been cut with a torch.

This is quite a swap. I'll be sitting back and watching this one. How do you like the HDK K member? I've heard nothing but good things about them. I'm basically just waiting for the right time to buy one for a '69 Valiant for my father.

Tried out the old Milwaukee lift that all my friends thought I was nuts to buy. I love it, it works perfect for what I wanted it for. Super easy to use, found out it has a safety latch/catch at 4 different heights incase the hydraulic leaks.

Tunnel butcher job, not bad if 2 inches is close enough.:violent1:

Basement flooded no progress made, bought a new house 3 days before the flood. Wife also ended up in the hospital for surgery. Not one thing its another. lots of parts just no time.

Well we moved getting settled still in the new shop but managed to start working on the car again. Modified trans tunnel with old tunnel from challenger. HDK k member bolted in absolutely perfect all 4 bolts threaded in by hand. Installed oil pan from 2006 grand Cherokee 6.1 hemi. going to be ordering more parts this week. Wilwood master cyl,be cool rad, fuel tank unsure which way to go. Thinking stock tank with a holley hydramat. Any advice always appreciated. Sorry to those guys waiting for updates been a hard year away.

Nice build! Hopefully life will let you focus on it a little more now.

Do you have a shifter yet? I have a TR6060 from a '10 Challenger to put in my Barracuda. A Tremec rep told me it wouldn't fit because of the shifter location being so far back. Its obvious that the shifter from the challenger is back too far, but can get another shifter that would mount on the "rear" location.

Thanks,
Steve
