So this is my set up 416 stroker, A833 manual "Not OD", 8 3/4 rear end, rear gears as of now 3:23's, 275 60 R15 tires '28' inch tall tires. Not going to be raced just fun street car. Will I be ok with the 3:23's or should I go with 3:55's.

Thanks

I have a 408 stroker with a A833 in my belvedere with 3.23 sure grip 255/60-15 not sure tire height. I love these gears I haven't tried out 3.55 but I sure do like 3.23 for a fun street car good on highway. Dustin

should be fine for cruising and you're still going to spin them off the line...

I'm running those tires and gears with an automatic and a 3500 converter and no trouble breaking them loose. Lots of fun on the street and loves the highway. 80mph is around 3100rpm.
I wouldn't change yours unless you were going racing and it was free.

Perfect then I shall keep the 3:23's in the car. Thanks guys

With a 408 i think you could use a 2.94.
I have a stock 340 and am looking for 2.94's to try in my Dart.
..Anybody have experience with 2.94's?

experience with a 400hp 360... went from 3.91 to 2.94 rear, the 2.94 is way friendlier for cruising but it was significantly more fun with the 3.91... I will likely settle in at 3.23

...what car and tire size...i'm running stockish 25.5" tire in a Dart
which are very easy to break loose with a stock 340.

I got 2.94s in my Duster with a 360 and 904 trans and 28" tires. Highway cruising is a dream but I can hit 55 MPH in first gear (!!). Luckily the small cam and 10.5:1 comp makes my 360 a brute on the bottom end so it's still decent off the line but I want to put in a bigger cam and step up to 3.55s with a bit higher stall converter.
