360/380 crate motor oiling

Do you use the 90 degree adapter? If not and your oil filter threads up to the block the oil will stay in the filter regardless since it points almost strait up. A momentary lack of oil pressure at start up is normal since there is no pressure built up to where the sensor is.

No, no adaptor ... and your point is exactly why I was concerned bc if there's oil in the filter and the galley from the filter to the block, and nothing has drained back, there should be almost immediate oil pressure (which is usually the case). What I also didn't describe during the questionable startup was a pronounced valve tap with the lack of oil pressure(which makes sense). So the question became, why no oil pressure for the few seconds which is out of the ordinary.

Since my post this morning, cut the filter up and was no metal shavings or specs or indication of a catastrophic issue and the drainback valve was intact so gonna try to self prime it and fire it up a couple times over the next few days and see what happens.
