Hi, I was wondering if there was anything that can be done to stop the loud spring sound and squeaking that is coming from my clutch pedal every time I push the clutch in?

I tried greasing all the clips and the ends of the over center spring, but it is still making that noise!

I'd pull the spring off and make sure the contact surfaces are all smooth and there is no galling. Polish the studs at the contact points and the spring too. Grease and reassemble.

Best

Thanks, I will try that. I am thinking that maybe I might order 2 new bushings for the shaft also.

OK, so I made a tool to remove the over center spring, and removed it. Then I went to the lumber yard and in the hardware section I found some nylon fender washers. I installed one at each of the connection points of my clutch linkage, and that seemed to solve the noise problem. Then I got my grease gun and filled the sleeve that the shaft goes through before I put it back together. My next question would be; Do I really need the over center spring at all? And thanks ValiantOne I will be contacting you about getting a set of bushings for my set up.

Apparently if you use the diaphragm style clutch you ditch the over center spring. If you are using the borg and beck style you need to keep it. Glad you got her figured out! Best.

When I had the over center spring in the side of the spring would rub on part of the metal clutch pedal assembly making noise and requiring me to lube it. Using diaphragm clutch now so it's been removed.

As long as the pedal comes back up, you don't need the over center spring.

It's there to make the clutch easier to push.
