WEIRD HAPPENINGS

Ha! Dad told us a story of a funeral home owner in PA. He was walking alone down a dark hallway and with every step there was a noise behind him, he sped up, the noise sped up. Walking briskly he got to the end of the hall, turned in a room, flipped the light on and spun around....nothing behind him! Looking down at his shoe he realized he'd stepped on a piece of tape and every time he stepped the tape stuck to the floor then pulled loose! Lol

My older sister's husband was a mortician back in the mid-60s at a large cemetery here in SoCal and had a couple of stories. One is rather funny and the other would have freaked me out if it had happened to me.

The funny one: He was by himself at work late one evening when a grieving widow of a recently deceased gentleman came to the mortuary and asked to see her husband before the viewing that was scheduled for the next morning. The viewing was already set up in a room at the end of a long carpeted walkway that was bordered by an interior garden area and then a glass wall looking out on the lawn area outside. He said he was escorting the widow down the carpet to the viewing room and everything was silent because of the late hour and no sounds of their walking because of the thick carpet. Suddenly behind them came a thunderous croak from one of the toads that they kept in the garden area to help control any insects. Both of them nearly jumped out of their skin.

The other story: Again he was working late one night preparing a body for embalming. The body was on the embalming table covered with a sheet and my brother-in-law had turned away from it as he was getting everything ready prior to starting the embalming processing. When everything was ready he turned back around to get started and the body was sitting up on the table facing him.
He explained that sometimes muscles will contract causing a deceased body to "sit up" like that.
I don't care what may cause it, you would have had to peel me off the floor at that point!
