Strut bushings on 66 dart SHREDDED

I believe the cupped part of the washer faces forward, away from the bushing and the frame. Could be wrong, but that allows movement of the rubber, without the washer coming into contact with the frame ?? Similar to this picture I found online.

This is correct. So you bought old bushings that were on the way to deteriorated and put the washers on backwards. Sounds to me like you were tryin real hard for a bad outcome.
