Referring to the pic in post #6... If that washer position is correct, Is the nut position not wrong ?
Seems to me that the beveled face of the nut would meet the washers bevel.
My personal belief is, These cupped washers are oriented just like those on shock absorbers ( Capture the rubber rather than expand it ). Same mechanical concept on a larger scale. So referring to the pic, that washer position is wrong and the nut position is correct.
