Led tail light for 67 dart

Just wondering if others would be interested in upgrading their rear tail lights to led. The company by digi-tails said if alot of people write into them that they would make some. They currently make them for the 69s and some 70s darts but no 67. So just putting this out there if others are interested please contact theme. Looks like they have quality products, maybe some members here already have their products will chime in on some info. Fit, quality, brightness, ease of wiring them in etc.

i had some contact with them once regarding my duster
they told me the following

It is on our schedule for later this year. As of yet, we don't have a
housing to work off of. If you are interested in letting us use the
housing we can offer you a tail light kit at no charge when it is complete.
We don't modify the housing or lens in any way.

i few weeks later i got a lead on a set of tails, let them know and never heard from them again
 
Bummer, how long ago was that you contacted them? Just curious, I was contacted by a Matt. Well the more people bug them maybe the faster things would get made hopefully
 
i first contacted them on 6-11-15 and got a automated response to that one, saying that they would get back to me as soon as they had an answer

on 6-15-15 i got the email i posted above, and i responded to that on the 17th asking if the tail light would need to be perfect or if they just needed it for the dimensions

radio silence after that
 
That sucks to hear, maybe I'll just stick to stock replacement led bulbs. If I start to hear different from them I'll gladly share anything I get.
 
You would think if they can charge 300 bucks for 2 bucks worth of parts it would be a priority.
It's easy to find schematics for LED's and they even tell you the exact resistance of the resistors and where to put them in the circuit depending on how many rows of LED's.
Then all it takes is setting up a board the shape of the inside of the lenses and solder it up.
I'd love to see one of you guys get 200 a set for building them.

How much should I expect to spend on one if you build it for me?
 
I am using them on my 69, they are great, I had some troubles and they replaced them with no hassle.

Hope they will produce the 67's
 
I contacted Digi-tails about making a progressive LED board for Demon tail lights back in 2014, even offering up a set of housings I had for the process. I got some vague form letter back from them and didn't hear back on anything else. I actually found a post here about another member that had sent them housings quite a bit before I sent my email. I heard zip for a year, then out of the blue got a promotional email from them announcing their 71-72 Demon LED tail lights. Not the best for communication, that's for sure. But when I ordered a set of their Demon LED tail lights they showed up right away.
 
I'm kinda of wondering if the ones they have for a 68 charger would fit inside a 67 tail housing. Course a red circle inside I square might look a bit odd

I know this is an old thread but I was just doing a search and came across it....

The tail light buckets are very similar from 67-69, main difference being the added backup light 68-69. Doesn't look like the digi-tails include the backup light anyway, sooooo.

Maybe the 69 units would be a pretty close fit to the 67??? If there is enough meat on the PCB, you could probably trim it so it's centered in the housing so there's no hot spots, aka brighter spots when viewed from behind...

I can't speak for Digi-Tails, but the cost of material isn't why something costs what it does...

It's pretty easy to amass $5k or $10k in design, setup, tooling, inventory, packaging, advertising, etc...
On the low side your talking 26 sets @ $189 just to break even...

Anyway, just some thoughts...

I would be all over a set if the price was reasonable. I'm sure others have been or almost been rear ended primarily because during bright daylight originals just don't show up well.

I replaced my bulbs with LED bulbs but all the light is centered in the lense. I like the idea of a little modification of a 68-69 kit. I'll check it out and report back here.
 
It does look like with a little trimming can make it work, just cutting the board it's on. digi tails did say that with more interest coming in they could make a set, there just wasn't any interest at the time. we can either modify the 69 ones or if a lot of people with 67s write in they might just make them for our 67s

Sorry about the blank post, big fingers I guess.
I guess I'm more inclined to try and modify the 69 version than wait around for enough people to show an interest. I was originally thinking that cost included the lenses but it doesn't so would have to take mine apart even if it was for 67.

Maybe I can concise Santa to bring them so I have a winter project. Already got the headlight plug n play relay set up coming. Hoping next season I'll be digital and halogen.
 
Nice, yeah might look into this myself. which led bulb replacements did you try the ones with top and sides?
 
Now that you ask I'm not sure. I'm thinking just the top and that might be part of the reason the light is so isolated to the middle of the lense. Still think ill give the 69 set up a try. I'll let you know or vis versa if you go with it. Seems like a good winter project.
 
Oh okay, think they have some now with 16 leds on them for the older push and twist. hopefully either of us can order soon.
