I have a plain-jane 66 Valiant that needs a rear brake rebuild kit (standard 9" drums), and I'd like to upgrade the shocks all the way around, probably to Bilsteins. The website I checked has no listing for a 66 Valiant, but both items are available for a 66 Barracuda.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Valiant and Cuda are pretty much the same car, with the exception of sheet metal. True or false?

to my knowledge (which could be wrong) yes it should be the same. I have a 66 cuda and get parts from a valiant sometimes.

Valiant and Barracuda were both built off the a-body frame in 66 and all suspension parts are interchangeable between the two...

Across the board, 66 Cuda and Valiant are exactly the same geometrically, meaning that all chassis and driveline components are interchangeable! You can even swap between the 2 body wise, as all of the front sheet metal, bumpers, taillight housings and such are all the same! Only the final trim items such as taillight lenses, grille inserts and such are different, but still the same size and can be completely swapped and bolted right in!!

But those shocks for the Cuda, they will bolt right in!!

Up until 1967, a Barracuda is a model of a Valiant.

Thanks Guys! Brakes and shocks are on order, awaiting the Brown Santa to deliver them.

Too bad I didn't see your request until now -- because this new friction material on current edition brake shoes -- is absolutely AWFUL, there is no "sugar coating it"
I have N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ the best braking material on planet Earth.....
You probably can't return them now -- but you are going to REALLY REALLY WISH that you had put N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ in there -- when you feel the pulsations
at red lights -- and rip your brake drums to smithereens..........
If it is not too late ----- CALL Immediately>>>>>>>>
