Trick Flow 440 heads, The Real Deal?

The T&D rocker arms showed up. I think these are the very first set of T&D rocker arms for the Trick Flow heads. They had to shorten the spring side of the rocker arm a little bit to get the correct sweep pattern and the spacers are different than the standard 440 set. They look great but I need to order some pushrods before I can try them out.

andy, I`ve got a brand new set of 9.400 compcams 3/8" stock ball and cups I`m not going to use, if u need some that long. course the can be shortened as u know.
 
Here is a dyno pull with the Trick Flow heads. This is a 470 with 10.5 compression on pump gas. Makes right at 700 hp at 6500 rpm.

I clicked on a subsequent video of the valve train on start up w/ the clear covers on. sure seemed like an eternity for the oil to get up there. is that normal / also tell us about the valve covers, think their neat as ---- !
 
Yes it takes a long time for the oil to start flowing out of the rockers and this was with a primed system at room temp. I bet it takes twice as long for the oil to start flowing on a cold engine that has been sitting over night. I'm also using pushrod oiling so you would expect the oil to get there really quick but it doesn't. Tells you that you shouldn't wing the engine right after starting it!

Valve cover is custom built for dyno work. I use it to watch the rocker arms and make sure everything is working properly. Makes it easy to see if you've primed the rockers or if you burned up a pushrod or anything like that.

Here is a 720 hp dyno pull. Video shows the dyno console during the run. Engine is 470 low deck stroker with 10.5 compression running unleaded premium pump gas.

 
That could qualify for a fun engine in a properly weighted A body. (LMAO!)

Switched over to a 4500 intake with a Dominator carb to pick up the 20 hp.
 
Probably not. The Duster would require some significant updating to handle more than 700 hp and besides, I'm not really into drag racing anymore. These days I just prefer to do engine work so I'll probably sell the Duster as a roller and use the shop space for something that makes money rather than eats it.

I heard that trickflow was making a new version of the 240, the 270 would like to know if there is any truth to that. If so when will they be out and is there any information you can tell me about.

Looks like they should be released sometime in November, looks like ill be waiting till then.

Here is a video from inside the dyno cell during a couple of back to back runs. Engine was making around 720 hp at 6600 rpm on these runs.
 
We have an update as well with the latest BBM with these heads. Combo is as follows

400/500
11.25 to 1
RPM Dual plane intake untouched just bolted it on
Proform 850 carb, no spacers
Lunati 255/263 solid roller cam, .600" lift
Trick Flow 240 heads untouched
Hughes roller rockers
It ended up making 667HP and 681TQ

Pretty tame combo, made for street strip use.

hey andy, did you make the spacer under the dominator? Is it top secert? haha just wondering if you could post a picture of the inside of it.

Not top secret, just a big open spacer. It is tapered at the top so I can run a shear plate.

Look at this way, deduct 1 point of the compression ratio for being aluminum and another for a big street cam/little strip cam. It is large enough to bleed down some of that ratio making pump gas do-able.

I have run 11-1 with a slightly smaller (248@050) cam & 93.
10-1 iron headed on 93. Same cam as above.
If the cam was smaller, I'd call it getting into the "dangerous territory."
 
I haven't been on here in a while.I've had a bad year.I just wanna thank all the Machine shops for all your input of great advice and research!I haven got anything going like I wanted to but I'll eventually get there!
